Sealing door mounting panel to door frame and door sub-frame.

I bought the genuine sealant to re-do the panel seal on Tank, when he started growing mould on the bottom of the door cards. Have yet to get round to doing the job!

When I find the pack, I'll post the part number - it comes on a roll and you can get it from TPS. Not that expensive from memory.

Would it be AKL-450-005-05? TPS web site does not recognize the number. Perhaps I have to call for a price?

Could be item 2 - 2A on the parts diagm - https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a2/a2/2003-248/8/837-837040/#9

Seal '15' could also be key in preventing moisture running down the window and getting into the bottom section of the door

Interesting, the mounting plate seal is not listed on that parts diagram. I have a 15 on my desk at the moment, it is double sided sticky foam and seals between the side impact bar and the mounting plate. Probably to direct water away from the back of the mounting plate and prevent mushrooms growing on the bottom of the door card. It also needs to be fitted with a sealing mastic which again is not listed.

I'm reasonably confident the part I need is AKL-450-005-05 plus a tube of mastic AKD 476 KD5 05.

Edit, b****r! all on back order including a second seal 15 :(

Edit 2, got it all off eBay £35 delivered :)

Not had chance to have a dig around the garage yet, but it\s certainly not part 2A - that is full of zip ties and plugs for holes. I did find the part number at one point, hence ordering the correct stuff.

D 450273A2 - Butyl sealing strip 5 x 5000mm was the part I thought. It's listed between item 2 and 2A on the diagram

Cheers Spike

That’s it, both the strip and the mastic under one part number. I missed it as I only looked at the diagram and didn’t see it illustrated. Thank you.

I eventual bought a tube of AKD 476 KD5 05 mastic within date and at a knocked down price from eBay and also a roll of butyl sealing strip https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BUTILE-B...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I know 8mm dia is not correct but the 8mm stretches and becomes 5mm and goes much further. All of the suggestions above would have worked thank you but I eventually went with butyl as it is also needed to secure moisture shields above the lock mechanisms. For £99.9 delivered I have enough to seal and vibration proof three doors

Will post some pictures as the job progresses.

Yes I can confirm on the one door I have that grew mold seal 15 had not been correctly sealed in the factory. This allowed water to access the lower section of rear of the door mounting panel. It was then able escape past the door mounting panel seal, which in my case was more of a draft excluder to stop rattles, and wet the bottom of the door card.
Once I have fitted seal 15 correctly and sealed the mounting panel the mold will hopefully stay away.
