Hi
I have just (yesterday!) ordered a 2004 A2 TDI 90 bhp SE.
It's really unclear what I need to do to get seat back pockets (which I want).
The brochure kind of implies I need to upgrade to Satellite cloth
The dealer is trying to tell me I need to get sports seats, which I don't want.

I have ordered one in the basic Sinus cloth, but I feel I've been scammed.

Can anyone with a recent SE tell me whether they got seat back pockets with Satellite or Sinus cloth??

Thanks in advance

Mark

My seats are in the Sinus fabric and do not come with seat back pockets.
I have the brochure still from when I purchased my car 2 years ago and it clearly states that the storage net on the rear of the front seats comes when you upgrade to the Satellite upholstery. This may have changed since my brochure was printed, but on the basis that it hasn't, I wouldn't have thought that sports seats would be necessary. I've emailed you a scan of my brochure - it may help you.

As Stuart says, you need to upgrade to the Satellite cloth to get the seat-back pockets - at least this was the case with my 2003 SE.

Thanks guys
I suspect my dealer wanted to sell me sports seats I didn't need
He probably hates me, I have been picking over every detail of the spec
Hopefully in Jan I'll give you a report on the TDi 90!!

The plot thickens
Apparently the spec has changed for 2004. Satellite fabric is no longer available, and has been replaced with Matrix (how appropriate). You can see Matrix fabric for the A3, A4 etc.
So given this spec change my dealer might be right that seat pockets aren't included. In which case I'll have to eat my hat

anyway in the end I ordered the upgrade to Matrix. Because I want to prove him wrong.

ho hum

Just had a look at the Audi site - Matrix looks almost identical to the Satellite cloth. Fingers crossed you'll get your seat pockets and youll be able to prove your dealer wrong - not the most trying activity, though [32]

I have ordered the sattelite cloth to get the backpockets (which I never use since they are to small and they are nets so everything in it is highly visible).
The sportseats are excellent, the seating is harder but better than the standard seats. And they offer lumbal support.

Dennis,
In total agreement with you - I have the sport seats with electric lumbar support, they are excellent. When I have had a courtesy car from my local dealer they always come with the standard seats.
A work colleague who drives an S4 (2000 ish)had the indignity of being given a 1.4SE petrol A2 as a courtesy car when his was being serviced - he thought it was great except for the seats, (mind you have you seen the bright blue inserts on the S4 seats!).

I'm an old, old man and don't think sports seats are really appropriate for me!!

They are woth it. They are MUCH more comfortable on long journeys - and you get the seat back nets![26]

Mark,
Trust me the 'sports seats' in the A2 are more comfortable and supportive than the standard seats. Were not talking boy racer bucket seats here - have a look at page 11 on UK Owners. If anything they are only the same shape as most other manufacturer’s standard seats.

HT,

I took a look at the pics of your car. Looks great in red with the Open Sky. Could you possibly tell me what the cargo net in the boot is called, as I'd be interested in purchasing one myself. I don't think these nets can be bought through VAG parts...

Thanks in advance,

James

James,

When I bought my A2, I was desperate to get the very very best deal out of the dealer, so once I had the price I wanted, I then hit them with the accessories list - namely cargo net and head lamp covers. I'm not sure that the net is strictly for the A2 but it fits a treat and is invaluable for stopping your shopping flying around the boot. I can remember that it was in an Audi bag when I picked up the car. The Head lamp covers were a waste of time - dirt gets behind the covers and it's impossible to clean the light unless you remove the covers - to do this you have to take the bonnet off - too much hassle for me!

Thanks for the info, HT. So, I'll ask about a cargo net - when I do, I'll post details of price. I'd wondered about the headlamp covers; sounds like they're a bit of a faff.

Cheers,

James
