Went to chack the oil today, pulled the leaver under the steering wheel to release the service flap and noting happens!!
Tried it quite afew times now and still no joy!
Is there any way to get the service panel to open? Without abing able to open this means I have no access to anything under the bonnet :(

Cheers

This happened to mine shortly after we got it. The cable had stretched. I got someone to pull the lever and hold it fully back while i used a wide bladed screwdriver with a cloth around it to prise open the flap.

Once I had done that I had to drill holes further back for the locking bolt mechanism to be adjusted so it didn't happen again.

Thanks for the reply :)
So is there any perticular place to price it open?
Also do you have any further detailed information on how to fix is a easy job?as I am unsure where or even what the mechanism looks like lol!!

the mech also has a screw so you can adjust it...? I did mine a couple of weeks back.

Check also that the cable is also attached to the pull; it's possible to hook it out.

sort of.

Check the cable first.
The flap is held with an "r" and the rear section of that is the bit that's let go by the cable. So you'll need to pull the cable at the same time or you'll probably destroy the mech. And I'm not convinced - if it's correctly adjusted - that you can open it easily in a non-destructive manner. As said, I've adjusted mine and it's now extremely tight - no screwdrivers through there....

Many thanks for your reply Bret,
Just wondered is it held just on 1 side? or both left and right?

Cheers

it's held in the middle only.

Check the cable at the back of the lever you pull. It's a "T" that goes over the top of the plastic and you have to remove it to remove some trim, so it's possible someone forgot to flick it back into place (a three second job if you know how and a five minute if you don't, especially without a lamp!).

^^^ What he said ^^^ :)

Just checked & found the 'T' that seams to be in the correct place and moves freely with the pull, I can see it slides across a silver coloured mechinism with a screw in it can this be adjusted inany way to tighten the cable?
Just a thought before I go at the service flap with the screwdriver lol

When it happened to me I just released the cable from the puller under the dash (easy) and pulled it with a pair of pliers until the flap clicked open. Then adjusted the cable under the front and didnt have anymore probs. Best of luck Colin
