Mercedes/Smart generally integrate cruise control and a speed limiter into the same system. It's much easier to do on automatic cars, though. A speed limiter is great; you set your maximum speed to 30mph, and however you drive within the urban environment, you can't get caught speeding. Great!

I fully agree that option 1 is easier and more intuitive, I have option 2 as original fit on my 2003 Audi Allroad so would go for the same on my A2 to avoid confusion
The Mercedes speed limiter system is indeed great at avoiding breaking the speed limit but the sudden loss of acceleration when you hit 30 if you need it to avoid some form of incident is not my favourite driving experience !

but if they took up the offer Robin they would not know how to operate such a device as a trafficator (showing my age here a bit, at least that is what my dad called them :))

However, cruise control remains eternally popular. A number of weeks ago now, I ended up doing 8 cruise control installations in 5 days! I suspect that's a record I'll never beat...

That I will work again in the Leeds area is inevitable, but I currently have no scheduled plans to do so. At the moment (Jan 2020), I'm doing a weeks-long job in the Lancaster area. I can arrange the work as I wish, meaning that all my A2 upgrade services are available whenever suits you, but you must visit me.

I only use genuine parts, meaning that the final installation looks and operates exactly as though your A2 left the factory with cruise control already fitted. I offer a choice of cruise control stalks. Both work in exactly the same way, but the buttons are simply arranged differently on the stalk.

  • This type of stalk has two buttons on the end. Personally, I find this arrangement easier to use and more intuitive and would recommend it as the default choice.

  • This type of stalk has only one button on the end, with the other button integrated into the slider switch. For A2s with the Driver Information System, some people find this arrangement preferable as it avoids confusion with the buttons on the end of the wiper stalk.

I am based in Lancaster, nearby M6 Junctions 33 and 34, though it's frequently possible to arrange fitting at alternate locations across the country.

Just like to leave some feedback.

Had cruise controls fitted to my new A2 just over a week ago now by Tom (timmus) and it works brilliantly!

His workmanship is fantastic, no clips broken, no rattles at all and all is in working order. Only used genuine parts, and is more than happy to assist with other issues.

Spent most of the morning chatting to Tom and managed to gain so much knowledge about A2’s, as I’m new to them and I really appreciated the time he took to assist.

Tom had a good look over the car, and diagnosed a alternator clutch issue, which I have replaced and the belt no longer bounces due to being seized. Really please with the service provided and will be in touch for heated seats fitting once I find a suitable set.
