Servicing Mileage readout

Hey guys i need some advice. Over the last 3 days i have watched my A2 tell me that i need a service in 1800 miles , 1200 miles, 600 miles this morning and now 300 miles about 20 min ago. Does Audi have a remote control that changes the mileage or is something bad happening under the bonnet. I will be lucky to have done 300 miles up and down the motorway to and from work in that time.

TIA
Les

If you are on longlife servicing, it will change based on journey length & driving style. Short trips will make it drop quickly.

Thanks guys for the replies, i only got my wee baby less than a week ago so i was a bit stunned and disappointed when the reading bagan to jump so erratically. But looking at mikes reply i can see why. The old lady that had the car before only drove around town for a few miles, whereas now the wee car is doing 50 motorway miles a day.

In the photos of the car from the stealers there was inadvertently a shot of the dash which showed a service due in 300 miles yet when I collected it it had miraculously changed to 9300...
Serviced yesterday and yes these things do operate using some kind of curious algorithm. The one on Mrs H's car (A3) has read 90 days and 1200 miles for about a month...

9300 is the figure you would see on a annual-service just after the service indicator has been reset. The strange number is because of the conversion from 15k km.

doesn't it also take into account time? Isn't there a 2 year limit as well? or did I dream that I read that somewhere ;)

2 years for the longlife, or 1 year for the annual.

But the general consensus on the forum is to service it after a year rather than 2.
