Servicing - my first time

Good morning guys

I have a 54 plate tdi 90bhp sport, which I purchased from a dealer in January 12. The mileage now is circa 64k. I have noticed that the service light now comes on the DIS when I start the car. It states the car needs servicing in 700 miles.

The problem I have is I don't know whether the car Is on long life service or not, as there were no receipts of servicing provided by the dealer only the service book.

There is a service book which has service stamps completed from 2008. That reveals:

Aug 2008, 35708 miles, oil change and inspection completed.

Aug 2009, 41845 miles, oil change completed, inspection, and additional serving at 40k and 60k not ticked in book (refers to servicing on page 13). Also additional work at 20k, 40k and 60k not ticked in booklet (refers to page 14, in booklet).

Jul 2010, 48955 miles, oil change and inspection boxes ticked.

Jul 2011, 56475 miles, long life service, oil change and inspection boxes ticked.

Any ideas?

I am getting to the conclusion that I will require a full service, all filters, all liquids and cam belt and water pump change.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Hello 1rado and welcome.
I'd suggest that your car is not on the long life service schedule. When the reminder is re-set, it automatically allows for 9000 miles before the next service is due - this seems to tally with the mileages you have posted.
Many members here follow a service routine of 10 000 miles or annualy. I always service at 10K regardless of time, 30 - 40 - 50 etc.
It may be a good idea to carry out a full service on your car - replace all filters. You may find the fuel filter especially has not been replaced in recent services and don't forget the pollen filter. I always use OE Audi parts but brands such as Bosch are equally as good.
As to the cam belt - check if it has been done - you may still be able to get the selling dealer to replace it for you. Regardless however, this is a job you should do sooner rather than later. Whilst there, it make sense to replace the water pump, tensioner and auxilliary belts. Coolant should be the latert G12+ spec from Audi. Enjoy your A2, beware of the MOD bug though :p.
