Hi. Anyone tried Turtle ICE ??
My Brilliant Black 2000 mod after 170 000km has not been so brilliant since it was new. Easy to work with too. Excited how long it will last.

Don't get me started on polish! For black cars i have tried various waxes costing a few pounds to far too many pounds:eek: - however if you want a swirl free gleaming finish that is easy to apply and lasts 3 months +, I highly recommend Swissvax Onyx. Its £39 for 200ml. Don't faint at the price it lasts ages and ages and ages. I still have some left in a tub I bought in 2005 and I have cherished my last 3 cars with this stuff! Total class!

Ice Ice Baby

Yess it is good stuff used it past months Sadly A2 now sold but it was very shiney and the dealer said great nick for a 2003

You wont get a swirl free finish buy just using wax. It's all in the prep!

Indeed, effort and prep =finish ! But the question was about turtle wax Ice and I didnt want to expand on clay bar, cleaner fluids etc. There's no comparison between a wax product from the local auto store and a complete detailing system. ( Although I didnt want to sound pedantic :)) I did want to highlight that I rate swissvax on black paint, and their website has a detailed 'how to' including a step by step video.

I'm pleasantly surprised how mine came up at the weekend, considering it was only two layers of Super Resin and two of EGP ....

go on, detailingworld.co.uk, you know you want to ;)

Yeah, I'm a frequent visitor although theres been a fall out with my favoured products as theres been some dummy spitting over marketing and distribution in the UK. b****r - I knew this thread would expose me as an OCD car cleaner. Ah well :D

what surprised me is how hard the A2 paint appears to be. There's only absolutely tiny scratches in my finish - and I couldn't photograph them. Yes, I tried, yes, I'd like to think I'm a reasonably competent photographer (see http://www.23hq.com/bretti_kivi for evidence) - but only when looking really hard can I now see the fine, fine scratches.

I'll probably try and prep mine properly in the spring (it's too cold again now already) with some clay and a machine. Til then, i'll add another coat of EGP tomorrow if I get time and that will have to do.

I'm also debating some collinite to add over the top - the paint needs all the protection it can get when you're scraping dust all over it every day during the "clear of snow" process...

I can recommend Collinite 476 as a final super shine outer wax layer. I used it after a clay bar (Meguirs clay kit), a cleaner wax (Meguirs Cleaner wax) and a polish (Autoglym SRP). The finish is mirror like, and the water doesn't beed, it just doesn't stay on the paintwork at all! The Collinite wax is quite easy to put on, but I recommend several thin layer, not one thick one, as it can become a bit tricky to rub off if you over apply it. I bought it from "Specialised vehicle detailing" on ebay for about £16 delivered. Will last for ages, I have done 3 coats on the A2 and 4 on the MX-5, yes I am OCD when it comes to polishing also :eek:;) To keep it shiny after a wash I use Meguir NXT detailer spray. Gives it that extra, "pimp my ride" shine!!

Have fun polishing!
