hi guys

i recently posted a problem i was having with the break pad warning light coming on dashboard. i was told to check out the sensor thing that leads to break pads not really sure what it looks like so i took photo of a terminal block, which had nothing connecting at other end. i hope i done the right thing by checking the passenger side wheel for this or is it the drivers side cos i forgot! anyhoos i took photos of things i noticed strange. sorry for the photo quality didnt know the camera was on manual focus doh! but im sure you guys have an eye for detail ;) what do you think of the rear shoes are they ok or do they need replaced? i would say theres about .5 cm left on shoes both sides.

i also noticed that the real shock has a cover broken from the gator thing (shown in photo) is this important to replace and is it a big job?

i would also say that the front passanger side shock seems to be the same as above but not as severe also shown in photo.

if these are needing replaced etc... how much for the full job done?

Someone's done a real bodge job on the front sensor wiring - that piece of scotchblock in photo1 is a common sight when a spanner monkey breaks the original!

You need the loom replacing and rejoining to make good and I'd say your gaiters and bump stops could do with replacing too.

As with all front end suspension jobs, replacement means complete disassembly, so most of the bill is going to be in labour, but get it done none the less.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi cammy
The pic of the rear shock shows the bump stop has crumbled (quite common), allowing the cover to fall off. Its quite easy to remove the rear shock and replace the bump stop and I can dig out some previous posts which may help if you are planning to do the work yourself.
Regarding the rear brake shoes, the critical dimension is the ammount of friction material showing above the recessed heads of the rivets. The leading and trailing edged of the shoes get the most wear. If there is more than 1mm in these areas I'd be happy to leave them for another year or 10,000 miles.

Cheers Spike

Yeah, Ada's rear shocks are like this too, as was out former Lupo - so a common issue it will be. (Did I just sound like Yoda there? - wish I was so wise!!!)

I'll leave mine till I get the FSD's done.
