Apologies if this has been covered before but thought I would report back on my double din conversion completed today.
I know that people have done conversions before but not sure if they have been done this way:
I managed to source a genuine Audi A2 double DIN cage from a damaged dash as a speculative buy and the good news is after some butchering on the old one it fits!
Unfortunately the old dash needs to be removed to get the old cage out as it secured pretty securely to the dash. To remove you need to remove the melted down tabs that hold the old single din dash in place.
I tried to take pictures of the whole procedure but struggled due to the awkard positions.
This one shows (I hope the tabs removed)
(Photo removed due to third party hosting issue, trying to recover)
I have kept the old cage to show where the tabs are if anyone requires them but it is reasonably clear when dash removed.
The old dash needs to be trimmed quite a bit and for this I used a stanly knife in an attempt to keep the cut lines neat.
I left some old dash behind to allow the dash to be securely screwed in place. I also drilled 2 holes at the lower plastic bar.
Silver screws in picture:

The mid stage:

Unfortunately no finished picture as too dark when done!
More than happy to assist others if required!
