Hi guys
My cars recently started to very slightly hesitate and dosen't seam to be driving so smoothly at low speeds not extremely bad but noticeable to me as we have two a2's and I can feel the slight difference between them, It starts and runs fine oil is clean and no unusual smoke etc. ive recently had a full service inc plugs oil & filter & air filter But i did run the car very low on fuel a while back and it seam to start when this happened so maybe its dragged some gunk from the bottom of the tank through the fuel system Ive since run some fuel additive cleaner through it but a slight difference if any, I took the plugs out and they were fairly black with carbon so i cleaned them up and this made some difference but its since become the same again, Ive ordered a new fuel filter as im unsure if this has been replaced for a while, Also ive put my fault code reader and no faults are shown. Is there anything else i could try cleaning or doing? any suggestions would be appreciated?

Thanx.

I will expand on Bretts post---get the throttle body cleaned as this is quite common on 1.4 petrols. I think there is a "how to" on here to help.

Sounds like a plan for the bank holiday weekend lol thanx guys i will search for the "how to" as its not something i want to attempt without any guides. Cheers

Cheers Spike sorry to sound stupid here but i have a memoscan u600 fault code reader is this vag com? can i re calibrate with this once i have cleaned the throttle body thanx again. Sam

Think i may have answered my own question after having a read up on my memoscan device it looks like i can re calibrate with it but i will update post after i have done this hopefully it should work thanx

Maybe problem lies in incorrect spark plugs?
You said you had them replaced recently...

Ok guys ive now replaced my fuel filter and the car seams to be running much better, Im Surprised as i would not have thought this would have made much difference but it seams to have sorted it so i can only assume it was pretty dirty and obviously not been replaced for a while, Im still planning on cleaning the throttle body just for peace of mind, Cheers

Hi peeps while driving home today my engine management light came on Ive read the code as P0140 (02 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 1 sensor 2) the car has been running better since fuel filter change but still not 100% so this would explain my hesitation issues My question is where is the number 2 02 sensor located i assume there are 2 usually one at the top of exhaust and one further down the exhaust is it easy to get to and is this the correct direct replacement for my car ebay item number 260752628365 thanx in advance my car is a 52 plate 1.4 se

p.s same fault code came on about 8 months ago i reset it and has not come back on until now so i would assume sensor needs replacing now

02 sensor

Ok so I've found 02 sensor removed it to get part number and given it a clean but before i attempted this i started the car and the engine management light hadgone off so should i still replace it or not? Wiring etc looks fine i did not delete fault code so it has gone off on its own any suggestions welcomed? Thanx

I had O2 sensor faults before. V-power fixes it every time. But since I'm getting more mpg with v-power anyway, I'm always on v-power and never had the O2 sensor error come back.
