Smart Watches

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone here has a smart watch, if so, which one and why did you chose it, what is the good and bad points about it?

Samsung Gear S or Gear S2 (3G) has been in my sights for a while now, don't know about any others, but as I haven't had any come into my hands, I can't see which is best and for what reasons.
I like the idea of the Gears S and S2 3G being able to run as an independent phone, not aware if there is any others that can do this.

I mainly use Android phones, but have iPhones laying around.

Being an Apple user I went for the Iwatch.

It was with my Christmas money from my family.

To be honest I just like gadgets (as most of you know) and that was reason enough.

I chose the iWatch because I have the iPhone, it was a natural choice.

But I have to say I am super pleased with it.

I have the iphone 6s (the bug one) and it is great now, I can read my emails and texts on my watch instead of pulling out the big iPhone.

But the most useful (and gimmicky) thing is the Apple Pay, so many people are surprised when I pay for things by using my watch on the contactles reader instead of my debot card.

Using my watch at the tube barriers is also safe, I no longer have to pull out my wallet and debit card in a busy tube station. Just hold the watch over the oyster reader and away you go.

There are some useful apps to and I get a vibration on my wrist when I receive a text, email or phone call, so I never need to have the ringer switched on ever.

So yes, loving the iWatch.

I had a LG G Watch and currently have the G Watch R which was the first full circle smart watch available. I would totally recommend any android wear smart watch. They are so handy! Simple things like being reminded you have left your phone behind are worth it alone.

It does need a phone to be connected but you have to consider you would need another contract just for your watch and the fact that apps and hardware like cameras are severely limited on any smart watch if not connected.

I choose the G Watch R as I wanted a circular watch to replace my rectangular one. The screen was good quality, it had a pulse monitor and was easy to replace the straps.

Android wear watches also connect to iPhones which is handy but the current support is mostly notifications which really limits the watch.

For that reason I am going to sell mine. If I was still on android it would be a keeper but I've switched to an iPhone. If that is your main phone an Apple Watch is a better choice even if in my honest opinion it looks worse.

Thanks Guys

I am also a self confessed gadget freak! I love electronics/technology and even more so the tech in the latest cars!

Nobody here got or had a Samsung Gear S or Gear S2 3G then?

I was thinking of putting a Pay as you go sim card in it therefore no contract needed. Although the Gear S" 3G has a e-sim, so not sure how that will work.

Hey Sarge. Ive got the pebble time. Went for this as it works for both android and ios. Battery lasts me a full week and although it isnt flashy as an iwatch or touch screen it does the job to a tee. Loads of apps for it and for £100 i felt it ticked all the boxes for me.
