Smurf joins the family.

Took the OS brake caliper off as piston was binding.

Further confirmation from 'the boss' today as I swapped Smurf for Buzz and she drove the TDI home. Smurf is here to stay, particularly now the exhaust is fixed. I don't dislike the TDIs though they're so loud by comparison.

Totally agree: the TDi's are brilliant on the longer journeys when they quieten down and just get into their stride. The petrols, I think, match the sophisticated, modern and forward looking image of the A2 so well. They also seem to highlight the lightness of the whole car. It does seem a shame to me to put all that effort into engineering an aluminum shell, only to drop what even their most ardent fans would admit, a somewhat 'chatty' and weighty lump in there.

This is exactly why the minimum number of A2's one should own is two ?

I'd suggest the minimum quantity should be four, one of each(engine). This means I only have one too many! ?

Smurf gets a beating. I've not come across many A2s without some sort of careless jacking damage, this was one of the worst. Thankfully, it would appear they got a fright and learned not to do the same on the other side.
Before.

After, far from perfect though much better.

Gaping hole in sill is invisible when standing though is on the list (somewhere).

Therein lies the problem, you can not see the damage being done or the after effects. It is only if you see or hear it being jacked incorrectly you may know it is damaged. Because of the floor compartments you will not even know it is damaged inside unless you need to go into the compartments.
If you jack the car correctly or it is up on a ramp ideal chance to check for existing damage. Our A2s are about 15 years for the youngest, so the chances of your car having been jacked up on at least one corner incorrectly in the past is very high. Same goes for axle stands incorrectly positioned , they will also punch the floor.
