I arranged a Scottish social in the Stirlingshire area in 2009. Distillery visit and great driving scenery. There was also an annual camping social in the lake district up to 2010 arranged by Skipton and Ulp i think.

The challenge is that the majority of forum stalwarts who are keen to socialise and attend meets mostly live in the south so any northern meet is a holiday really with the expense to boot.

It's do-able of course should there be sufficient interest. David, Mike and I used to ponder about doing a social in the Dumfries area where there is gorgeous scenery and a good few motoring attractions like the David Coulthard museum in Twynholm and a drive to Lanark and you are in Colin McRae country.

More ambitious still is the car club mecca of Applecross in Sutherland and the famous bealach na ba pass ( the pass of the cattle) - as per my Avatar. But that's a 2 day drive for most club members!

It is a shame that they got rid of the Motorail service.

I used that to get to John O'Groats many years ago when a large group of customized cars did a charity cruise from there to Land's End.

That was a simple (and at the time not that expensive) means of getting a car up there!!!

Perhaps a smaller social just aimed at those that live in the North might be worth it?
You might be surprised at the numbers?

I organised a "glamping" weekend in the lake district for a2oc in september of 2011. There has also been a social organised by a couple of the Scottish members (Bruce and Paul,i think) at a car show in 2012/13 that got 5 or 6 a2's so numbers are good. The only problem is as others have stated that a lot of the membership don't want to drive very far for a social, so it ends up being the same people at socials--but the numbers are rising as we are getting more new members that are finding out the fun and camaraderie being part of the social scene. I have made some really good friendships in the club over the years that has continued even when they have decided to leave ownership. I am always welcoming to ideas as it says in my signature "pm me" cheers mike
