Information Some Clutch Advice

Hi,

Any help would be much appreciated as i am new Audi A2 Owner.

It appears that i need a new clutch for my A2 1.4SE Petrol and wondered if anyone can a) advise best on where i should get the part from b) if anyone can recomend a decent quality Audi specialist in Birmingham where i can have it fitted.

I have got some prices for a Clutch Kit from KMS Parts in Birmingham who i have used in the past and they have quoted approx £140. Listers Audi have quoted approx £190 and VAG Parts dont list this part ?

From memory the part KMS offered was a 'SAX' make. After doing some homework there is also a Valeo one which looks cheaper - im confused on which to go for ? Should i pay a little bit more and have the geniune Audi Part, has anyone come across KMS parts or should i try the cheaper Valeo alternative.

For fitting Listers Audi quoted approx £800 to supply and fit and quoted it as a 5 hour job ?? This is why i would like to know if anyone can recomend an alternative Audi specialist in Brum !!

Hi Zaf

My advice would be to find a reliable garage to do the work and let them supply the clutch.
If you get your own parts and things go wrong it will be a nightmare to sort out.
The parts supplier will only replace the clutch if its faulty and have no responsibility for the labour. The garage would charge to do the job again if the parts were faulty and it was not down to their workmanship.

You could try Stealth Racing who are in the Birmingham area. They know a lot about A2's and I'm sure they do routine type jobs in addition to remaps and suspension upgrades etc. They come highly recommended from A2oc members
