Something to keep me going

So my A2 is currently in lockdown at my friends garage midway through having it’s wiring loom changed.

Working in the Justice system I’m still required to go into work and so needed a car to get me back and fore.

I decided to scratch a long standing itch and had an MG convertible delivered

First drive today to work and I had great fun, but could never use it as my main form of transport and eagerly await the comfort of my A2 being returned when the time is right. Really sound like an old man now ?

Some real bargains out there at the moment and managed to pick this up for £600 ?

That's a beauty. Best colour and trim option too. Looks in pristine condition for a car that's reputed to suffer from tinworm

It’s pretty straight to be honest, a little bit of surface rust on the back of the drivers sill but I’ll sort that out. Surprisingly I didn’t have any of the kit for rust treatment in my garage anymore ?

Just as well you are handy with the spanners Steve. Have a friend who is a total MGF fanatic (Trophy 160).

You'll probably need to become one very quickly or the love affair won't last.

I always fancied trying one of these.

Big fan of the K-series and the Rover chassis engineers at the time were excellent. The little 200 (later 25) used to handle brilliantly (I sold them new) so I imagine they did alright on these as well.

They look good but the engine is famous of head gasket failures, one of the reasons I didn't go for one as most ads stated the engine has issues.

Nice car especially for the cash. If my eyes don't deceive me is that not a TT gearstick surround?

It’s great fun to drive to be honest. Hate having to work while everything else is on standstill but it makes the journey a bit more enjoyable.

Most have now been done with the improved freelancer gasket. A lot of car for the money these days.

Hey, we're keeping the world turning.

I live and work on my own. Technically I'm a 'garage', well closer to a garage than a barber anyway and can't do my work from home. Therefore at Rusty HQ, life plods on and legally so. Does feel very, very odd though: suppliers are closed, customers are quiet, my unit-neighbours have gone. Feels like I'm working through an endless, melancholy Bank Holiday.

Only things that could bring it to an end as far as actual business is concerned is equipment failure, lack of materials or customer confidence. I think I'll run out of steam before the business frankly.

Even so, the ability to fit in something relatively normal around the shopping trips for elderly parents (and landlords) etc is (mentally) welcome whilst it lasts.
