I am a new member & I see lots of comments about space-saver spare wheel. I am considering purchasing a wheel. Is there an alternative supplier to my local Audi dealer?
Is it worth buying the load compartment floor too? It appears that you loose a lot of depth in the boot making the available space very small. There is a lot of wasted space under the "new" floor next to the spare wheel.
Would other member recommend the purchase of the floor or is it a waste of money?

I have an amulet red 1.4tdi base model with CC because of the larger aspect ratio of the standard tyres. I found the lower profile tyres on the se made the ride harsher

Welcome to the club!

We have the space saver because the AA refused to use the puncture repair aerosol provided with my wife's last car when she called them out. Apparantly they also refuse to let you have relay if you do not have a spare - even in a car designed not to carry one (Peugeot 206CC).

Result was new car with spare and refund of years AA subscription - now RAC member - they will use aerosols / fit space savers. You could also use tyreseal(?) which is also mentioned on the site but it does not cover all eventualities. You take your pick.

We find we do not use all the boot very often, and when we need it it is easy to lift the flap and fill the space beside / around the tyre.

The spare is a Vredenstein (Size on web site - SEE http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/tips.htm) so you should be able to get it from a local distributor and you could buy fastenings if you want them (one of our number is trying this at the moment)

Audi's price is around £200 just for the space saver!

I agree that the SE ride is hard - but that is how she like's it.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

How much do they (audi) charge for the space saver wheel and tyre? Mine is brand new and in the spare room. I carry a can of tyre foam.

Search under the archived topics but I remember someone posting that you can use a Seat space saver for far less...

As we're going to order the new car with a space-saver as standard, we have a spare one.

See the thread in selling.

A2's don't make very good sledges:(

You will find that the cost for the false floor is not the problem its all the brackets/linings/covers etc that need to be bought to fit it.

LOL, so I have a few hundred quids worth of stuff that I am never even gonna have in the car, never mind use.

Does the audi assist cover you for flat tyres? I mean will they recover you if you shread one on the Motorway ?

Just a thought as i know mini didn`t if you changed the run flat tyres to sensible tyres

I contacted Vredestein the makers of the compact spare. They said that they made the part specifically for Audi. Since it is an Audi original item they do not sell them direct or through their dealers[29]. You must go through Audi.
