Spare wheel puzzle

Morning all,
I need to sort out a solution for a spare wheel for Diane, my 1.4 petrol A2.
I currently have 16" Audi TT 7-spoke wheels fitted with Bridgestone Turanza T005 205/45 R16 W.
However other than a tyre, I don't have any form of spare.
I have been looking at getting another TT alloy so I can carry a fully working wheel+tyre.
However I also understand I could get a temporary spare that's enough to get home. However I have no idea how to determine the correct size or type to get.

Does anyone have wisdom?

From memory the folding Vredestein A2 spare is 155/70x15, but I do know from previous calculations that is the same rolling radius as all the standard OEM wheel sizes, give or take a few mm. You'll recognise it when you see one. Alternatively get an A2 15" wheel with a 175/60 tyre on and you'll be fine. That will sit quite happily under your false floor if you have one. The only difference will be that you might have to move the wheel out of the way of the handle when you want to remove the rear seat on that side.

I believe a 17" space saver from an A1 is a suitable spare for an A2.
Mac.
Edit : Should have been A1. Sorry.

I think only the first gen (8L) A3 from 1996 to 2003 used a 5x100 PCD as I think the 8P in 2003 and onwards used 5x112

The space saver, which, I think, will suit an A2 is from an A1, fitted with 17" wheels. The space saver is actually
16" The tyre size is T125/70 R16.
Hope I've got it right ...
Clearly, wheels are not my specialist subject!

I think the following is a list of the main VAG cars with 5x100 PCD wheels: -

A1
A3 before 2004
TT before 2006
Golf before 2006
Polo 2002 onwards
Lupo 2006 onwards
new Beetle 1998-2010

Everything newer or bigger tends to use 5x112 and anything small but older used 4x108 plus didn't tend to run a space saver

In terms of rolling circumference, below is a table I constructed when looking at this: -

I run the std SE wheels with 185/50x16 which have the same rolling circumference as your TT wheels with 205/45x16 so Mac's suggestion of the A1/Golf T125/70 R16 space saver will be -1.7% smaller in terms of rolling circumference from your current tyres which is only 0.8mph difference at the max speed rating of 50mph and should be perfectly fine across the axle on the non-driven wheels - my advice is NEVER put a space saver on the front/driven wheels.

Cheers
