spare wheel

have been qouted £235 from audi dealer for spare wheel due to bad experience of puncture in middle of nowhere, {had to be trailered home}.
does anyone know of suitable spare wheel equivalent?
 
Have a look on ebay. Plenty of cheap alternatives from either Audi or VW.

I've heard they are a soft (sticky) compound, so they will wear out faster than average.

Apart from Fiona's recent post, I've generally heard very good things about Dunlops.

2004 1.4 TDi (90) SE, Cobalt Blue, Climate control, Cruise control, DIS, Sport seats, Winter pack, Symphony II.
 
I vaugely remember somone saying you could use a VW Polo spare as they are the same size - possibly worth checking as they'll be a lot cheaper than the Audi collapsible.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.
 
I fitted Toyos to mine to replace the original Dunlops as Dunlops were unavailable and on a long back order. Toyos get a better rating than the Dunlops and have virtually the same tread pattern. Only £75 each fitted too.
 
So, are you guys advocating putting a full size spare in? Beneath the false floor? Would it be fixed down at all....
 
I'm not sure if a full size spare will fit beneath the false floor - we have the collapsible wheel. Just another option.
I fit fits, fixing down would probably be a DIY issue with bungee cords.

Dont worry about Toyo tyres. Have tried them now on two different cars and they are great. Fantastic grip in both dry and wet conditions and to by honest, I found that they lasted very well. No where near as soft as the likes of Yokohama's.
Also great value ! which is always a bonus.

I carry a standard SE spare in the boot. It a tight fit (no need to bolt it down) but the boot floor needs to be lifted about 15mm to accommodate the 185 section tyre - You can search for more info in the archive posts under 'spare tyre'

You could probably fix it down in the same way as the Temporary spare - may just need a longer bolt. The fising is a bracket over the batery which is a straight swop (Johann has done it)
