Spolier Repair

Hi All,

A bit like Millie's post - but who do you chaps recommend fix a deep scratch on the rear spoiler? A neanderthal delivery driver very kindly opened his lorry door on it, then drove off, but we tracked him down. Of course he has denied all knowledge of it, shame that I have an eye witness and CCTV, get out of that matey!

Wouldn't normally bother having it fixed but just a matter of principle, so I need to get some quotes to fix it. Audi suggest replacing the whole spolier and rear window as it all comes together! Couldn't accurately quote as they had never done one before - could be about £200 up to £500.

Yes, if it is being done by insurance, then go down the Audi route.

They are right in saying that it's bonded to the screen - it's best to have it all replaced as there may be a weakness caused by the impact if it was a substantial one - this may lead to early failure of the screen.

Cheers,

Looks like the RAL 9005 color (silk matt) matches it verry well. (I did the projektzwo-spoiler like this)

Thanks all. I have to get a couple of quotes, just wondered if you had any experiences of places like Chips Away, etc in doing things like this?

Such a pain in the a****. I have to spend MY time phoning and driving around to these places to get quotes, not to mention the time spent when the work gets done - they don't pay for that do they? Why can't people be considerate with other people's property? What rags me is the fact the bloke parks outside my unit and half way across another, so noone can park, does the damage, then delivers to a totally different unit, drives off and then denies all knowledge!

OK, done now - going to lie down in a darkened room with some whale song..........

Ask your dealer. If he says: there is no repair planned for standard, so you should get a new rear-window inkluding the spoiler.
But if you ask me: this is wasting resources and no need for a new window.
