Squeaking rear seats

Hi all,

Brand new to the car, Audi and the forum :)
Figured this would be the best place to get info and help, amongst users and new friends.

So, I have a couple of niggles with the car. First off, and for this sub-board are the squaling rear seats.

I managed to isolate the fault to these by sitting in the back and giving them a quick jab. This confirmed it was the same noise when going over bumps and not something else in the back. How is it best to fix this problem. The catch mechanism seems the culprit but I'm not 100% certain?

Secondly, the boot area is genrerating some rattles too. Obviously, it's a busy area, with false floor, covers, etc and the many contents it actuallt holds!

What's the best way to find out what's rattling? Empty it out and re-start, one by one perhaps?

Thanks,

Hi

A few things i have used over time.

Get some card, thick if possible, and wedge it one at a time in various locations to try an isolate the rattle/squeak etc. take the rear seats and fold one down at a time. you can isolate them as well. Or turn the seats upside down and spray WD40 etc into the mechanism where the bar sticks out to locate the seat in the rear frame. You can also adjust the rubber stops on the tailgate, undo the torx bolt and slide the rubber stop out to create a tighter fit, when its closed

All of these have sorted the rattels I had. :D

Thanks. I'm going to give this a go and get hold of some silicone spray from Halfrauds.

The other annoying rattle comes from the passenger side dash. It seems to be from around where the dash meets the door - anyone have any ideas as to where it's from and how to fix?

Well unfortunately we had a rattle or a kind of clicking noise from near the passengers door, but actually from the dash. Spent weeks on this one and never solved it, including taking lots of things a part.

squeaky / rattly seats- I fixed mine with a piece of the rubber draught excluder that is like a self adhesive hollow tube, this allows it to compress thus stopping the squeak or in my case rattle, use very little next to the top of the body mounted fitting.
As Emm said another culprit is the tailgate, I had to alter my stops on the tailgate twice in my ownership - 3 years, they tend to move, make sure you adjust a bit at a time then try out.
Cheers
Mike
