Starting motor.

Hi all,
Don't know if this is really a problem, but recently when the car is started ( a2 2001 tdi) the starter motor stays on for an extra second. Is this something I should get done quick and if so anything I can do myself, or it's nothing to worry about?
 
Hi moved for you :eek: the problem is quite common and im sure does no harm apart from your ears. it can be eliminated by cleaning the starter gear assembly. hope this helps cheers mike
 
Mine does this when the weather is dry for a few days been like this for the 5 years i've owned the car, its one of them jobs i keep saying i'll get round to
