Stock Blaupunkt amp wiring help needed

Hi ya,

I’ve recently acquired all the parts needed for rear speakers, tweeters & amp install. The only thing I’m now missing is the complete loom from the amp to rear of the stereo, I have half of the loom, connected to the amp but I’m left with this st the other end, any advice on what goes where???

Hi,

As nobody seems to be helping. A quote from the Erwin website itself...

"erWin is the electronic repair and workshop information service from AUDI AG. It helps independent workshops , vehicle fleets and private individuals to repair and service Audi vehicles professionally and correctly."

Here is link

I am sure Bret's advice is valid but as there is a cost element and a learning experience to know how to use it, I would first try the resources on here which I assume is your plan.

I know nothing about your wiring dilemma but a quick look on here and it is clear only some of severed wires go to the head unit, the rest I assume to the rear speakers.

I assume it is a pig to extract the full wiring from a breaker which is why it has been chopped. So as I see it the simplest option is to make your own (which i think is what you want to do), here is a link which seems to say what's what.

Another link, notice especially the post by Tom(Timmus)

This does raise another option which is to purchase a loom from Tom which he can post to you, or indeed fit it. I know he is very busy at the moment but you can always ask but I have no idea of costs.

Hope this helps and if nothing else bumps your thread and somebody who knows what they are talking about might step in!!

Thought I would revisit this thread for progress and glad that Mike(Skipton01) has provided the information you need.

On rereading the thread to refresh my memory I noticed something is amiss with the amp connector pin table in the link I posted and your picture of the severed loom. I counted 11 wires in your picture and the table only lists 10. Interested to know about this extra wire and maybe worth posting for the benefit of others in the future how it was handled.

Morning Andy,

I have only had chance to have a very quick look at the diagrams & my loom. I work shift patterns so as soon as I’m off shift I will have a look & see if this is something I can do myself or whether I need to get someone in to sort it for me, in my head it should be fairly straight forward but as I’m finding out with my A2 everything seems to a tad over engineered, can’t understand why the speakers are connected through an amp & several different wiring looms just to get to the head unit, then the ecu needs reprogramming just to be able to use the rear speakers?!

I will report back once I’ve had a look.

And thank a lot too everyone for the replies again.

Andy,

I’ve now rewired everything up to the point of refitting the iso connectors at the amp end. For some reason and I’m hoping someone can jump in here and tell me why, the line in & line out ground from head unit to the amp are 2 of 0.5mm gauge brown & white striped cables both going to & from the same connectors as in the photo below. Why is this, surely just a larger 1mm gauge wire would suffice in my non technical brain?!?!

Morning,

Something I have never dealt with and can offer no suggestion but the way you describe it the double wire is very puzzling. As Tom(Timmus) is visiting you in the next few days you will have a guru at hand to ask if nobody can add enlightenment.

Hi,

you will probably find that each of the two ground wires is twisted round one of the line signal wires in the loom. This makes the left and right signal wire runs between the head unit and amp each a "twisted pair" of signal and ground. Twisting the signal and ground wires like this reduces the noise interference picked up and transmitted to the amp.

regards

Andrew

Andrew that is great thank you very much, at least I now know I’ve wired it correctly. Bad news is I’ve threaded the cables through the chassis from headunit to amp without twisting them. Would you advise I start again and twist them?

Hi,

if everything is back together, I would suggest trying it out first. If the sound from the rear speakers is fine then you are probably OK. If its not, its probably worth re-doing. From your profile it looks like you have a diesel so at least you won't have interferance from the spark plugs to contend with. Listen close to the rear speakers with the engine and other things like the heating blower fan on to check if there is a problem.

Thanks a lot Andrew, the line in & grounds are the only 3 wires I haven’t connected to the amp so I think I will remove them, twist and put back in whilst there not connected. I don’t fancy sitting there for hours again with a paper clip trying to get the wires out of the iso block!!!

Huge thanks to everyone who has commented and helped me out, can’t believe how much work that was just to add 2 rear speakers, gone are the days of just running 2 twin cables from speaker to headunit!!! All in and very impressed with the sound compared to just having the front 2 speakers.

1 more bit of help if you could, at the moment I have just ran a cable direct to the battery for 12v, what do I need and how do I wire it to the fuse box, I believe it’s fuse 2 if what I read on another thread is correct?

Is this to do with adding the rear speakers or something else? - Andy

Evening Andy,
Yes it is to do with the rear speakers, more to do with the power for the amp. I’ve earthed it at the base of the a pillar where a few other things are grounded, it’s just the power cable that needs to go to the fuse box

[/ QUOTE]
the wire from the amplifier and from the radio are connected in a bundle (approximately 250 ... 300mm from the radio) and go to the fuse number 2

I connected the radio with the help of a clamp

(sorry for my English )
