This is a wierd one...

Just the other day, I hopped into my A2 and found the clutch pedal to be a whole lot lower than I remembered it to be. It was just about flush with the footrest, and its close proximity to the floor meant that there was only about 2" of travel in it.

"Strange" I thought. But I began to assume that it may have always been like that, as I have only had my A2 for just over a week and perhaps I had just never noticed before. I had also just been driving my wife's car, and maybe my A2 clutch just seemed lower in comparison.

I started up, and made my journey of about 25 miles. The clutch was still crazily short, but worked fine.
When I returned home however, I thought I would investigate as I was sure that the clutch travel should be longer. From outside the car I reached into the footwell and pulled gently on the clutch pedal.
Sure enough the pedal rose a good 3" to rest adjacent to the brake pedal, where it should be.

The operation of the clutch is still fine, although the biting point is a lot easier to find now that the pedal is where it should be! But what on earth could have caused this? How did my clutch pedal get 'sucked' down?

I am very curious indeed. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there an explanation?

Take your car back to the dealer ASAP, There has been a bad batch of master cylinders supplied to Audi/Volkswagen that causes this problem, you will find your clutch pedel works fine for a few days then it will floor!! or it may just GO at the next junction or lights when you have a queue of cars behind you. REMEMBER dont panic, just reach down and pull the pedal back up and procead to your nearest dealer, and kick ass
