Chaps -Resurrecting this thread as I've encountered the same problem. we've had the 'boot open' warning on DIS for several weeks but thought it was a switch issue and didn't realise the boot light was also staying on. Came home from holiday and car battery completedly flat. Put a new battery on and then noticed the alarm light in the door is not operating. Alarm went off this evening and it's only then I noticed the boot light was on with the boot shut. So it's either always been on or there was a on/off episode to trigger the voltage drop and alarm.

I've changed the boot solenoid several months ago but reading the above I need to interrogate the lock assemby? Is the microswitch in the lock assembly and is it easy to change or is is better buying a complete unit? Any pics/diagram would be useful.

Hi. Timmus adjusted the boot catch on mine and the problem went away.

Thanks. I've had the lock assembly out and as others have stated getting the plastic surround off it to get to the microswitch looks to be troublesome. I've tried the first and second 'lock' to the latch and the problem persists, however twiddling the connector plug to the microswitch does resolve the issue but doubt it will last. I'm therefore surmising that the solder joints in the microswitch are the issue.

Having discovered that the boot warning on DIS and the boot light operate on the 'open' circuit of the switch pulling the plug provides a fix albeit you lose the boot light. At this stage I'll leave the plug off and as a second safeguard take the bulb out of the boot light until I can devote more time to it. The alarm light in the door now back to normal. That said £50 for the latch assemby complete is a bit steep.
