Tandem pump vacuum help

Hi, the tandem pump vacuum pipe for brakes is loose and slightly wobbly. It was covered in a lot of oil, I presume this has damaged the rubber pipe. What's the solution to this? New tandem pump? New section of rubber pipe?
What clips would you use to put it all back together? Jubilee?

Thanks in advance

Could you check if the metal part is loose please.

Edit
If just the rubber hose has failed remove it and fit a new piece of hose and a couple of jubilees.

If you have got a dremmel rotary tool than put some rag in the intake and cut through the metal clamps on the old hose.
😄👍 best of luck

I always found it odd that the pipe can be bit loose, even on a new tandempump I fitted it felt jsut plain odd. All you can do is get the rubber pipe fitted snug. The metal spigot moving is often the case.

Do you have weak brakes?

Yes, brakes aren't very good and I went to brake at a junction and had no assistance... So I think something pretty bad is wrong.

I'll have a look. It's pretty difficult to see and wiggle . I just presumed it was the hose... How would you fix it if the metal spigot was loose ? JB weld ? Or ? Ideally replace the pump...

Any ideas on the ID of the rubber hose ?

Don't forget to check the other end of the pipe where it connects to the brake booster.

Modified brake boost one way valve

The tiny plastic hose connection that is part of the one way valve that is push fit into the brake booster had broken off on my TDI.

I think this can also make your brakes become less effective because the pipework is no longer sealed. So the vac pump sucks via the path of least resistance instead of through the brake booster.

Ok so 12/13mm

Is the other end in the engine bay? Is it easy to access?

Just cut off the old hose and had a look. It's the pump flange itself that's spinning. What's the fix for this?

Can you buy a refurbished luk pump? What are the complications of fitting a Bosch pump?

I had this only;y a few weeks ago.
Got a cheap vacuum gauge onto the end of the pump after removing the pipe...no vacuum and therefore pump had gone.
The issue was no servo assistance on the brakes..
Sounds like you may have the same thing.
But need to be careful re cause and effect here.
If your brakes are poor (lack of assistance) then you have
1. faulty servo
2. split in pipe from pump to servo
3. Tandum pump failure.

Doing the vacuum check on the pump for me, confirmed it was indeed the pump.
New pump fitted, problem sorted...

hope this helps

Is anyone able to source a Bosch tandem pump? They seem to be very hard to find online and autodoc are out of stock
