My "I" is falling off, I can either take the car to the dealer and ask them to fit a new one, will it be straight? Probably not. :D So should I just remove the remaining badge, if so how easy will it be to remove the remaining characters? Has anyone tried this? There would be one advantage, the car would cause less offence to Vectra drivers when I pass them on the motorway[:p]

Most car badges are stuck on with glue, so with a bit of gentle persuasion it should peel off. A little tip is to heat the area with a hair dryer so that it softens the glue (makes it a lot easier) Any of the glue remaining on the bodywork can be removed easily with some polish.

Hope this helps

I have just removed mine.

It needs a little warm water poured over the digits and then using something sharp or pointed, just get a corner and gently lift it up and away and when you can just use your fingers to finish off.

Any remaining glue can just be rolled off between your fingers.

Use some more warm and soapy water to remove any trace and wipe clean.

Well I never knew that. I might just prise my 1.8 badge off my A4 then. Any idea what glue is used in case I want to stick it back on afterwards?

Ade,
I used to think like that, to much noise etc. This is my first TDI and I find the driving style better (for me) as I don't need to go looking for the power its there in the mid range, almost effortless more relaxed.

Mmm, I'll keep my petrol for now. I had a diesel prior to the A4 and grunt isn't on my requirements, quiet as possible and odourless for me, rather travel somewhere and take a few more minutes if it is in comfort.

I suppose petrol cars are very quiet ( although one of of the things that puts me off ) but odourless? The late petrol cars emissions are ok, but older cars are awful. And the evaporative emissions when filling up, make my head swim. It never bothers me to fill up with Diesel. I have to fill up my bikes with petrol, so make sure the wind blows the fumes away!! Roll on Diesel bikes!!
