TDi EMMISIONS WARNING LIGHT

My emmissions warning light came on today..... not had time to get a fault code yet but any clues as to likely cause? It's a 96,000 mile TDi 75 remapped.
 
I had this on our 1.4 petrol, I wrongly assumed it was related to emmissions but apparently that light can come on for various reasons unrelated to emmissions. Mine came on because I needed a new brake light switch (rear brake lights had stopped working). An easy thing to check and a cheap thing to fix so I hope this could be your problem too . . .
 
hi adrian888 your car may well have the bulb warning dis but as we found out with vonnies a2 (also with full dis) her eml came on after both brake lights failed. easy to check out. cheers mike

It could be a sticky brake light switch. If it happens again note if it occurs after braking. Also check the brake lights - often the high level one works even when the 2 main ones don't. If so, time to buy a new switch

Thanks for advice and will do although the light came on whilst driving along and came on each succesive time I started the car for about 3 journesy and 100 or so miles before I realised it had gone!
