How hard would it be to fit a 1.4 TDi engine into a 1.6 FSi A2?

There seems to be alot of good spec FSi's and not many TDi's. My plan would be to use the Car As it is, whilst i source a TDi engine and mod it before fitting.

Cheers.

Don't go there.......For starters, in addition to the engine, you would need a gearbox, charge air cooler and pipework, MAF sensor, engine ECU, engine bay wiring harness, engine mounts, Webasto or electric auxiliary heater and probably dozens of other bits and pieces.

As Spike says, don't go there! Not to mention the suspension will need changing as well...

If you're going to do an engine swap, why not try and source something more modern and interesting, like that little 1.4 turbo and supercharged motor VW are going to be using more and more in the years to come...

I don't think in will be an easy fit under the A2 bonnet...
And also lots of extra bits to source aswell : turbo, custom exhaust pipes, chargecooler, wiring harness, ...
Moreover, I don't think the ECU and the gearbox are compatible with the A2.

A question : is the 1.6 TFSI (in the A3) just a 1.6 FSI with a turbo ? (and adapted internals), or is it a totally different engine ?

What would be fun is a honda type r Vtec engine,........... :D

In a car as light as the A2 it would be very quick and the old 1.8 as found in the mark1 integra is bullet proof.
