TDi Fuel Filter Housing Bolt

Started a separate thread, rather than tagging the conversation onto the other recent one and swerving it further.

I've now bought a new TDi fuel filter housing with the intention of getting it to Depronman to see if we can't produce an uprated and more robust centre screw. Pleased to say the price seems a bit more reasonable from TPS - around £65 all in, as opposed to £75 last time I looked.

The bolt seems to be an M10 fine thread doing some quick measurements. Photos for reference below and I'll get the parts to Paul shortly, season depending.

do you think the bolt really needs that hole,so it can vent?

it would be a heck of a lot stronger if it wasnt required

I had thought the hole was on the side of the threaded portion of the bolt - a very short way up from the head. That’s just from the photo so I could be mistaken!

The main cap of the housing has 3 holes around where the screw attaches and I think it is a bypass system for if the filter is totally blocked - diesel will pass through the cap, through the bolt and back into the system.

I've not really had time to examine the assembly though. However, Ian is coming up next week for a while and then will be bringing the housing to you Paul, so you can evaluate and come up with a far better solution than Audi did.
