Hi to you all from a new member! I have a tdi Sport, bought new in Sept 2002. Have just taken it to the garage with the ABS and ASR warnings going mental and found out that my lovely kerb clipping alloys have worn thru the wires leading to the sensors. This is a new unheard of fault, so will have to wait till Audi find a solution for it!! Wondering if anyone else has had this?

Welcome Fiona!

Have you got the standard alloys - 16"?

does the sport not come with 17" Stuart?

1.4SE petrol 2001, Dark interior, Sat cloth, Brilliant Silver, 3 spoke Steering wheel, Rear electric windows and Panasonic MR555 stereo, Panasonic 8CD changer, 10 speakers (2 extra 13" 190 watt each.)

1.4TDiSE 2002, Biege interior, Brilliant Black, Concert II.

Factory fitted 17". Funny the service centre asked me that too. Like they were not sure what it actually came with, asked me where I had the alloys fitted, slightly un-nerving!

Doesn't sound safe to have sensors with a low threshold to damage. Wheels have to be one of the easiest items to damage on a car. Another Audi quality component!.

Who's your dealer with the lack of wheel knowledge?.

As I am about to order a 'sport' this causes some concern. Would anyone reccommend the 17' wheels? Or should I go for the SE and forget the quatro suspension?

If you work through the topics on wheels/tyres you will find a few comments about the advisability of the wide, low profile, tyres and at one contributor has already had to replace two bent rims.

Ours is on SE standard (185/50 on 6J16) and these are as low/wide as I would want to go. The previous Peugeot was on 205/45-16s and I was terrified of hitting potholes.

Why are all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

Torquil,

I've had my Sport since September and have no problems with the wheels and tyres, just the wire wearing. They are real kerb clippers, as the alloys stick out further than the tyres, so the will alloys hit the kerb first! But saying that, they look stunning! When I collected Alphie (I am a girlie, so it has to have a name) it was the wheels that really stood out.

Sorry for going off my topic, but also look at what extras you would want closely, I mainly went for the sport for extras I would have wanted to add to the SE, many of them standard on the sport made the sport a better buy. I went along to the dealer said this is what I want and they had one already built and got a really good deal!
