I am a new member but i would like some advice before i buy the car. I have put an offer in for a year old tdi sport (4500miles) its in great condition but not understanding the build quality of the car should the gap of the door panels be same both sides .ie The gap between passenger door, drivers door and also the gap on the front wing?. I am only talking about less than 2mm . But I can't see that it has any work done to it.
Ok i could get the AA round to have a look but am i being to fussy.

Can any one help me

stephen

If you are in any doubts, have a look at some other A2's. There will probably be plenty on the Audi dealer forecourt. Compare gap sizes from car to car.
If you want to check deeper, ask the present/previous owner (on log book) if it's had any accident repairs. Not sure if they are obliged under law to give you a truthful answer though.

My thoughts when buying second hand are, if at all unsure or uneasy, walk away. There are lots of other cars out there.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

My experience of Audi panel gaps is that
A) they are invariably perfect.
B) they are very 'tight'.
C) they are symmetrical across the car.
I smell a rodent.

have to agree with Rob if you are having to ask question like that on a car with only 4.5K on it you must let your feet do the talking! Head over heart and all that.

I've copied Stephen's others posts here and then deleted them:

I posted a note yesterday about my concerns about this car but if the car is not a wright off.......
What should i pay for a 1.4tdi sport with leather, aircon add six cd player 5100miles? The alloys are in a poor state.
This is a private sale

and:

Are the cars well made? I may be looking to hard to find faults but saw a X reg 1.4 in the street had a look round it and it has the same problems as the one i am thinking of buying. The gaps are not same on either side of the car (door, wings and where the front end of bonnet meets the front wing it dips down.Ok i am only talking about very small amounts but still should it be better? If anyone can brave the weather can you have a look at you car and see if you aggree.

Welcome to the forum Stephen-I am sure you will get many replies-we are all very helpful!

Stephen, where are you buying the TDi sport from?
Look at the gaps from the top of the panel all the way down, it should be equal from top to bottom. The bonnet dipping down does not indicate a problem as the bonnet isn't fixed on hinges in a conventional way.

If in doubt definitely get it checked out or walk away and find another you are happy with. Which part of the country are you from?

Cheers
