Tdi to fsi

Unfortunately I'm going to have to stop using my TDi soon because of the London ULEZ expansion and because I really like the little car, I was thinking of switching to the FSi. I do roughly 20k a year so I'm wondering if its a good idea to switch to a petrol. I'm pretty sure the patrols are ULEZ compliant, but what is the MPG economy like, and what sort of longevity do they have in terms of total mileage. It would be well looked after and serviced regularly in my hands anyway.
Apologies if this thread exists already, I did a search and it returned so many posts that weren't related. If theres a buying guide could somebody post a link 🙂

Finding a good FSI is not at all an easy task.
Excellent for the miles you do, and you'll get 43 - 45 mpg, at least, that what I get, on lower mileage than you.
Mac.

I’d stick to the 1.4 if you have to get a petrol and do that sort of miles per year.

Apart from Plastimacs ever reliable FSI, an FSI doing 20k miles a year is going to spend a fair time needing repairs.

Whilst the 1.4 is by no means quick, it is dependable and should the engine die, you can pick up a Fabia 1.4 engine to go in it relatively cheaply.

I say go for it👍
I have the 1.4 petrol, used in the summer…
I have the 1.6 fsi used for winter and it is fun🤫
So bought the fsi 18 months ago and have since increased the mileage by 15k miles. In that time, I have replaced:
Timing belt etc (garage did this, should have been done by previous owner)
Replaced all coil packs as a fault was present and tried to eliminate it, then found the fuel filter had disintegrated (had not been changed for 8 years)… naffed up HPFP (got one from A2Steve) and fault still present so overhauled the fuel rail…. did not solve problem…. so got a proboost fro A2Steve and never looked back.
This weekend replaced rear discs and pads so now stops a little bit better, nothing else seemed untoward at rear.
Car is off road end of May… so need to replace driver side top mount as a problem has just occurred. Will probably replace discs and pads whilst I am at it. The car is what it is… a bit of fun and an A to B hack. So at 118k miles still puts a smile on your face. If I decide I no longer require it, will sell after above work is done.
