TDI90 front end rebuild.

MOT passed at the start of the week. No advisories. Top stuff.
Couple of weeks before, the rear left calliper handbrake mechanism failed. When replacing the calliper with a good used one I noticed that both rear springs had snapped and lost half a coil at the bottom. Queue rear suspension overhaul. New bushes, shocks, springs and bump stops.

Cambelt and water pump is now on the horizon. As will another windscreen due to stone chips.

152K update. New Dual Mass and clutch fitted recently along with cam belt and water pump. The car was off the road for three weeks whilst I slowly did this work. In that time the alternator pulley decided to seize which created a very scary noise on the first startup after the belt change.

As I was doing this work I noticed the now well documented pressed control arms are looking rather tatty. I have a new pair of cast units ready to go but fancy building up an entire replacement front subframe and control arm consoles for ease of replacement. New control arm consoles are not cheap. Used A2 ones are scarce. Has anyone tried using the Mk1 Skoda Fabia consoles? They look the same!

Fitted a set of these 16" A1 alloys for winter wheels last year. Dunlop SP winter sport tyres. A great looking wheel for the A2.

Thread follow up. Car still going strong, It seems like really good MPG is getting easier to achieve now. My partner is driving the car for now as her A2 needs a new clutch, Ive been demoted to a VW Caddy which is miserable.

I think its on about 165k now. Not bad going for an insurance right off. Cheapest car to buy and run Ive ever had.
