Temp gauge stuck on 60c

No matter when or how I drive. It never rises to it's normal position of 90c. Reading similar posts it seems like it's one of three things(?)

A faulty temperature sensor or,
A faulty thermostat ?
A faulty ventilation sensor.

The most likely (correct me if I'm wrong) is the temp sensor? I have a 1.4 petrol a2 and would be keen to see if I could replace it myself. Is this what I'm after:

If anyone has any instructions and tips I'd be very grateful as I really have little experience of changing bits and bobs under the hood.

Thanks

Will

Hi Will,
It's more likely to be the thermostat at fault...had this issue recently with my car. The temp sensor was replaced but made no difference but a new thermostat cured it.

Cheers
Dave.

It might be that you need a new thermo housing, febi bilstein do one that is not too ruinatious. Horrid job to fit but VAS in Bath are very good Audi bods. Best to avoid "yer average" mechanic with these rather specialist little cars!

Wow thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful to know what could be the fault or faults! I had no idea about workshop-manuals.com - looks like a fantastic resource. VAS of Bath are new to me too. Thanks again all
