So, after many months of faltering and lame starting issues with Baby Boomer, I finally managed to get a few days where I didn't need to have the car around, and could swap with JRV to drop the car at WOM for Marcus to have a look at the Cam sensor and fuel filter which were a bit suspect.

Working his magic on them, he managed to fit in changing these two parts earlier this week and got the car back on the road in a few hours. MAGICO! The car now starts first time, every time and does not have any stuttering or engine cut-outs that it was displaying symptoms of which had been getting worse and worse over the last 6 months or so.

An additional bonus is that the fuel economy seems to have improved, although I'll have to try a few more fills to test this theory, but on purely subjective "feel" it seems a lot smoother.

So, many thanks to Marcus and Rob for their great service (even to the extent of picking up the car very late on Tuesday evening).

I saw it over there on Tuesday during my visit to Tom at Wom.. the red bits are certainly different ??..

Not too much been happening with Baby Boomer over the last few months I see, apart from being used as transport :)

Minor upgrade today, fitted heated mirrors ... from this ...

I have got the heated washer jets to go full Winter Pack, but just need some time to get the fitted.

Not quite certain what's happened to the photos, as I can't see half of them at the moment.

But anyway, today's upgrade. Necessitated by me suddenly losing both headlights at the same time, I decided to finally get around to fitting the smoked headlights from @A2Steve (thanks). They seem to work quite well, but might end up on the 90 if that goes the way I think it might.

Looking good so far buddy :)

Nice one Jeremy, really works well with those wheels ?
That PM before Christmas has a lot to answer for ;)

So - First update in 6 months - that's the way it goes over lockdown.

As many of you may be aware for the last couple of years really BB has had the "3rd gear upshift" issue which has been steadily getting worse. As such a gearbox upgrade has been in the planning for much of that time, but other priorities meant that it never really happened.... Until June time when @nick4tl offered a 6-speed PTU gearbox for sale, which including shipping was very nicely priced. This was duly purchased (many thanks to Nick for a really smooth transaction) and shipped over to WOM Automotive to await a suitable gap in their schedule to allow time for fitting. That time finally came last week and my good lady gave me a lift home after dropping BB off with Rob & Marcus to work their magic.

As usual with WOM, they worked really swiftly to fit the box, and had BB back on the road within the week.

The conversion is extremely well engineered and I've had no issues so far with the box, in fact the only issues I've had at all are of my own making, usually forgetting that I've got 6th gear there at all.

Finally I have the extra cruising that I need...

Morning Jeremy,

BB has always looked very nice indeed, the addition of the PTU gearbox, although unseen will be great I’m sure. Fingers crossed OEM will be getting the same treatment by Rob and Marcus next week.

I saw your gearbox when I dropped my MYP box off recently, I beleive they were sent away together for the preparation work. Looking forward to the maiden drive back from WOM in 6th.

Kind regards,

Tom

Llooooog time since last post - a couple of quick updates

6-Speed PTU gearbox fitted by Marcus and Rob @ WOM Automotive - superb service again chaps - Highly recommended

After a 2 1.2 year wait @timmus finally managed to fit my heated seats look, so I now (in the height of the summer) have Bum Warmers!

Following a puncture last night I was forced to replace the boots too, so (maybe) temporary A1 S-Line 17"s are fitted ... I think they suit it quite well, give me your feedback...

I like it Jeremy. Looking good

Have to agree with others, those A1 wheels look a much better fit but it's what you like that counts.
