Hi there... Yip count me in as well! I'd love to this!

I've stayed in many an Ibis in France: cheap, easily booked online and not expensive...

Just let us know the dates early enough!

Johann - great, please drop me an email confirming your numbers and to remind me to add you to the list!

The dates are already available at http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/meet4.htm
It's up to you on the start date and end dates depending on whether or not you want to do the long drive in one day.

Staurt
i will wait to see the full list of hotels before booking for 3-4 nights regarding the ferry or euro-tunnel are we traveling across together/meeting before we travel across to france or are we finding our own way to neckarsulm.
I would be glad to meet and travel in small groups rather than just as one single A2 especially when traveling such away abroad.

Cheers looking forward to going
Most probable i will travel down to Folkstone on the 4th
let me know what other people are doing once we have comnfirmed number of people going.
Would be good to travel as a group!!

Cheers

The wife and I are likely to make a mini break out of it all and go via France or Switzerland the weekend before and so will most likely try and meet everyone enroute to Nuremburg. But everyone else is more than welcome to organise meeting points/a convoy drive.

IF you want to check hotels for yourself (I am checking hotels in the inner city area at the moment, I will wait until the middle of January to get approximate numbers...), you can check http://hotel.nuernberg.de/index_e.html...

Bye, Frido.

I'm definitely in for this... how many people are thinking of doing it over 2 days and how many in one?

rac.co.uk says:
Total distance: 534.3 miles (859.9 km ) to Neckarsulm
Total estimated time: 10 hours and 54 min
Don't drive tired. Plan a 15-minute break into your journey for every two hours you'll be on the road.
If you feel tired whilst driving stop at a service station for a coffee and take a short nap before continuing.
Average speed of 30 Miles/h on national and country roads.
Average speed of 60 Miles/h on motorways.

for me personally since i will be bringing my girl friend a 2 day travel to the social visit will be more appealing.
i was thinking a short leg for the first day then a longer leg of travel on the second day.
Wanted to be at the channel crossing however we decide to cross early on the 5th so as to make sure i am not late as for the past 2 socials i have always arrived late/last A2 to arrive.

So if people are interested in meeting up i thought personally folkstone/dover would be a safe bet.
Since then we can travel to France together and the A2's that want to bomb off can do leaving the slightly slower A2's to travel in some sort of convoy since safety in numbers and if anyone has a problem on the way they are'nt entirely on there own.

Cheers

If anyone wants to travel in 2 days, I suggest Aachen or Cologne as a stopover point, form there it is 5 hours to Nuremberg (and there is lots to see there...)

Bye, Frido.

Quick update: So far 13 people have signed up for this event.

That leaves 12 places free which I sincerely hope get filled but if not, can I suggest that we try to fill them by offering the trip to non-members - i.e. put a posting the 'General' section of this forum for those who haven't seen the webpage on the club site. If the places still do not get filled then they will be offered to members of the German A2 Club.

I am sure that you understand the amount of work that Frido (and a little by myself) have and will put into making this event successful, organised and great fun for everyone and so as a result and to show your commitment to coming, we will be asking for a small deposit from you which will be refunded to you at Nuremburg.

Finally, for those coming from the UK; please do bare in mind that it really is a very long drive to Nuremburg and unless you truly do have a problem with booking time off work, can I suggest that you consider breaking up the journey with a stopover at Aachen, Cologne or Mastricht.

Thanks Stu and Frido. Unfortunatley we will be unable to come. Wife works at a school unable to take time off. She did say I could go on my own, but I would never hear the last of it..... lol.

Hi All,

I am also unable to come along. Stupidly decided to start my own business (hehe) and cant go planning much time off at the moment.

Kaine

P.S. Another reason I have is that I have been to Ingolstadt and Neckersulm many many times before (business) for the A4, A6 & A8 development.

Sorry, no go for me. I know you wouldn't want a Corolla cramping your style!!!

Seriously, getting married in August so need the money for better things.....beer, stag night......

[14]Congratulations Steve !!!!

Are you going to pop down to your audi dealer to bag yourself a new A8 for the day??[14]

Hi all,
Michelle and I will also be coming in May to the meeting in Ingolstadt. The ferry Calais / Dover is very easy and probably the quickest route for most of you.
For those of you who are travelling down from Calais..and are taking the route past Cologne ; you are very welcome to take a break here..3 or 4 could even spend the night with us and we can travel down then together.
Small tip...although there is no speed limit in Germany ; Belgium and Holland have a limit of 120 kmph and are really strict about enforcing it ( to the point that they can even confiscate your car...they then put it up for auction and you basically have to buy it back!!)
Steve ...its a pity that you aren't coming ...it is just a meeting and even Toyota drivers are welcome...maybe we can organise an A2 for you in Germany!!
As I said it is no problem to use us to have a break here..be it short or overnight...just give us a shout!!

I for one would definitely want a break half way through... seems as if we will all be arriving from so many places that a convoy drive sounds a bit difficult!

I would prefer EuroTunnel as well as it really is far less of a hassle than a ferry and you exit straight onto the French motorway in Calais... but closer the time I guess special offers etc on HoverSpeed vs Train can be compared (HoverSpeed nearly as fast as train and miles faster than a ferry... so my 2nd choice if we need to go on water...)

Looking forward to it already!

Thomas

I've already gatecrahsed one social (any photo of my Toyota and it has had an Audi badge superimposed on it!)

Kaine

Nearly. I've just about signed up for a Merc from the same group as owns my Audi dealership. God help me. But they were cheap at £250 for 5 hours with a driver for an E class. Did consider an A2 too.....
