The A3 2.0TDI DSG looks mighty tempting..... but it will be a common car and the shape (particulary side elevation) is less pleasing to the eye.

Naw, Audi's lost the plot on design recently. The A2 and A4 looks good, the A3 looks like it was assembled from the bits left over from all the other cars. The rear lights!?!

don't bother with a new A3-been up North this weekend and the place is swimming with the things.

Farmers with too much money me thinks.......(joking of course-I know they are all hard up).

Snag is A2s are as common as muck here. I think they are giving them away free with tanks of fuel!

Reading a few stories about dodgy electrics on the new A3s. As an early adopter of the car you will be part of the European test bed.

Would this qualify for a discount then? Or an invite to germany to discuss how the testing went?

maersk-only saw a handful of A2's from Norwich to Macclesfield and surrounding areas. Corollas were 10-a-penny, but then they are built in Derbyshire so plenty of employee discount cars no doubt.

I was just suprised at the number of new A3's-one on a 52 plate-didn't look anything special and I didn't think they would be around on a 52, even an 03?

'52 is interesting as they were available to order in May but few if any were delivered before June. Very Few 03 then, most should be 53.
I think I am besotted. The enginge is stunning and reminds me of road burners in my past. I guess the hooligan I thought had passed has only been hibernating for three years.
I see about 10 to 15 A2s a week here. They are a VERY popular buy second user......................cos they are too bleedin' expensive new!
Values are certainly dropping ...........................
and its that time, you know the urge takes over.
i don't think I have owned more than two cars for more than the magic three year period. There are pangs however, which is why I have not yet committed. I think this week-end will see the deed completed and then its a 10 week wait..........................

I still have pangs for my Seat Leon. Best car I've owned (after my very first car I owned-nothing could beat that). Chased a Leon Cupra across the hills just to look at the thing. Mmmmmmmmm

Maybe the 52 plate I saw was a demo that had been in the UK for a while. Interestingly it was on a East Anglian area code-in Derbyshire. I see a lot of A* reg plates on TV and around the country. Must be the docks at Felixstowe, Harwich etc and they are hire cars/fleet cars.

Had a A3 2.0 FSi on loan for a few days and loved it - none of the hesitation at low revs that is evident on the 1.6 power plant. Loved the way the car looked and drove although the suspension was a bit firmer than I would have liked (must have been a SE or Spot) and it was very very easy to let the speed build up to interesting levels.....

If I was looking for a new car we might just have found it!

Take care

Nice words Kit I agree with all of them. I thinkk the diesel is better though 'cos of 320 ftlbs of torque. That is MUCH more than my late lamented 328 BMW!
A wonderful drive as you say. Struggling over colour. I notice your A2 is Dolphin.
Any snags?
Do stone chips show a lot?
Do you have to keep cleaning it?
Dark colours are nice but they show dirt. I know dolphin is not that dark but...............
Any comments useful.
What colour is the interior with dolphin?

The deed is done. Twice the power and almost as many mpg. Is that legal?
Hurried up by parking in Tesco (Safway really but I know some of you lot get off on Tesco) between an Amulet and a Cobalt pair of 2's.
They really are becoming common around here!

First post on this forum,
2002 Ebony BLK TDI SE A2, love the car. It is used for commuting and I've racked up 23000 trouble free miles in the year since it was new. I have a few thousand miles left in the tires and the service indicator says AVS1 is due in 10300 miles! (total 33300 mls?).
I have no intention of changing the car (9 different cars in 4 years!) this one has been the best buy, by a long way.
Best of all I have convinced my wife to order an A3 2.0 TDI sport in place of her MINI Cooper....... best of both worlds! Just trying to convince her that I'm going to have to use the A3 for commuting to take advantage of the AVS! She's not 'wearing ' it yet though!
Bye for now. Anyone want to buy a 2002 MINI Cooper;) A3 arriving March 2004:):)
