If DJ190 is still running around with the top two lines of his cluster broken then this is the ideal fix.

No, I finally "bit the bullet" and purchased a new unit nearly three Years ago from TPS .... It cost £540 after the faulty unit was taken in PX. Isn't Timmus (Tom) doing something like this? What's the difference? Do you get other features with yours, Craig?

David

It's the same unit, I just purchased mine directly.

Now that I have taken a DIS to pieces I think I know why yours wasn't working, there are two rows of LED's that illuminate the DIS, about 20 red and 10 yellow, slightly different in type.

So I think the top row of 2x5 LED's were not being driven correctly. It would have been hard to troubleshoot, if not impossible.

Yes, I sent it to TWO Firms and nobody was able to sort it out! Very annoying!

David

I had a new screen fitted by Cartronix for £120, but only because Tom was busy or he would have been my first choice.

The problem was not on the screen electronics, it was on the cluster PCB LED's that backlight the screen, it could have been a faulty chip or transistor, but hard to find without a circuit diagram.

From what I can tell the DIS is a 4 layer sandwich, the DIS screen, a filter, a crisscross wire matrix and the LED's on the board.

Found my first bug. The gear indicator is fairly random. I was driving today first time and the N was showing. Even in first gear. It changed through the gears but shown 6 when my car only has 5 gears

I am not sure how it would know which gear you are in anyway?

perhaps on the 1.2 but there is surely no gear position sensor on a manual gearbox.

Steve B

That's why I was questioning the "p",I couldn't figure out how it would know which gear, even neutral on a manual car.maybe it can be proggramed out for a manual.

Working out the park brake is on is ok. That is presented to the cluster. I thought that might extinguish when I went into gear. But it behaves randomly when driving and it cannot be disabled or removed like the other icons.

I'm currently running on v17 software. Need to migrate to v18 to see what is fixed. So currently waiting on a right angle USB plug so I can run a USB socket from the bottom of the dash to the cluster for easy future updates.

Yes. That would be better.

A menu option to set it set it on or off would be ideal.
Or enter the model,
Enter 1.2 and it is set ON,
anything else and it is set OFF.

Might be worth asking if that could be done?

Steve B

Right, I've worked it out

P = Park Brake
N = Neutral or any press of the clutch between gear changes, so sitting at the lights in 1st with the clutch depressed shows an N (not that I do that of course)
1,2,4,5,6 = 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th

So obviously a little bug as 3 seems to be missing

Thanks, I will program them in and see what happens.

Ok, so that's the gear indications sorted out.

I have a modded 5th gear, so I need to try and work out which ratio I have for that, there are at least 3 options.

Also the 6th gear needs moving to a much lower ratio than the 5th as my indication toggled between 5th and 6th until I dropped the ratio of the 6th to around 0.400

Yes, I've seen in one of the previous post, but it skipped the third.
Just want to make sure, once my MYP is ready....

Boris

Craig,

Why didn't you set it to 0,000? You don't have the 6th gear...

Boris,

I have six gears and, yes, it's compatible with the MYP I used to have.
