The quest for the highest mileage A2 and the 200K Club

Names updated and put into order. Imola Yellow still at the top for overall mileage but close to being beaten on original engine.

Only another 24k and you will be topping our leader board for the highest mileage A2 on original engine.
I will do my very best to reach the goal. Im a proud a2 member. ;) right now im driving my new purchased 'old' 1.4 tdi with depronmans fine remap just added. So there is a long way to reach 24k in the 1.2 tdi.

That's done mate. Some impressive mileage from the earlier AUA engine. The BBY engine doesn't seem to have the same longevity.

Afternoon Steve,

Pictures to follow probably on Friday as I reach a quarter of the way to the 300k club from my last recorded mileage last year.

Kind regards,

Tom

May I ask whats normally kills the 1.4 petrol?

Oil consumption through bad rings but a compression test would confirm this, piston slap, bad maintenance the worst being the oil separator getting blocked causing high oil consumption. The oil separator is supposed to be a service item yet most never get changed and when they get blocked the engine just burns oil very slowly. These engines are very reliable if maintained properly.

Great tip @Vorsprung durch Technik ! I'll make sure my 1.4 petrol gets the oil separator changed next service ;)

Your welcome, i learnt the hard way through problems i've had with our 1.4 petrol. It's in my thread if you look. The Cobalt dream machine. and this one Piston slap and Cobalt Dream Machine, it' not good! Despite this setback i love the car and it's very sweet reving 1.4. I have a new engine that i'll be building up when i can get round to it.

Yes, I rebuilt mine and never regretted it. its very quiet and I just love it. Not as powerful as TDI, but it's so quiet, that I hear other engines around me making more noise.

Morning all,

As stated earlier in the week, today I was to reach 225k miles. I’m now a quarter of the way to the next milestone. Still on original engine and components.
