The quest for the highest mileage A2 and the 200K Club

Imola Yellow (TDI) at 517,000 (350,000 on original engine)

I'm sure there is higher out there so please post up.

I asked for a full history last time I was at my garage, and they immediately coughed up 21 pages of report, from which I've pulled 100 parts replaced. Very early in the list was my second engine. For the record, the actual mileage was 348,759.
 
i think this is 2nd engine the way it reads ..? Be nice to have the story on this one it deserves a right up .. can’t believe 1/2 a million miles ?
 
After I posted earlier I read new engine at 348k but it’s still seriously impressive!

Also looks like he changed the tandem pump to a Bosch one which I had to do due to a fuel leak from the old one (Valeo I think but not 100% sure)

I’m intrigued what killed the first engine as I’m on 292k now...
 
What a great read and by the sounds of it if main dealer had done its job it would still be on original bottom end of engine as well ..what a huge testament to this iconic car ..love it ?

Don't worry about the engine. If it's serviced by someone who's competent, it will be fine.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably still have the original.

That's an interesting point! Actually it's already done 200k in mine, having gone in at just over 348k, and I was led to believe that the engine had done 68k in the donor car.
