The quest for the highest mileage A2 and the 200K Club

At the rate our A2 is clocking up the miles i should be able to join the 200K club in 30 years time.

that is getting close to knocking me off the top spot, I'm now at 281,218 miles after a uni run to York at weekend.
A weeks worth of 8miles to and 8 miles from work plus York and back was 367 miles, motorway speeds of 70 to 80mph plus 3 adults and a boot full of stuff, tanks brimmed 65mpg
I'm still amazed at how far the A2 goes on sniff of diesel
Here's to the 300K miles

I was a month ago in 269k+ and since then I've swapt the AUA engine for a BCB 1.6, check it out in a couple of minutes where I'll upload the dyno graph in my mod thread...The AUA could easy surpass the 300k mark, it was mostly ok, I just needed the extra power, good day :)

418585km

But apperently google miscalculated Yesterday, it is "only" 260000miles.

Here in Denmark there some a2 and lupo's over 500000km. I have heard of one over 700000, but never seen it.

That's amazing mileage Paul and thanks for the brackets in the post, they arrived safe and sound - great service once again :)

Truly inspiring! I'll soon be retiring (for now) a 2001 1.4 TDI with 178k on the clock and replacing it with a 1.4 SE Petrol with 98k on the clock. The TDI engine is still running well, however the car needs work in other areas, and interior-wise was in pretty rough shape when I bought it in 2012. Today's purchase will see me behind the wheel of a car that feels and sounds much smoother than what I've become used to, and interior-wise is in very good condition considering it's 16 years on the go now. I plan to address the issues on the TDI in due course, and may even switch back to it if I'm missing that beautiful TDI-torque, and/or if I notice a substantial difference in my wallet given the mpg differences. Either way, to hear of these cars covering mileage like has been detailed above is as good a reason as any to feel good about having started a new chapter in my own personal journey with this cars design, which in a lot ways has an impeccability to many aspects of its design that other cars of its size and capabilities have yet to reach, and these mileages being reported are a perfect reflection of that.

Spotted this thread out the corner of my eye... thought I'd post.

Just 223,000.
Still on the same clutch, exhaust and gearbox fluid! :D

Would like to get to 250,000 before I replace the clutch, but not sure that's achievable.

Have added you to the club :)

Is yours a petrol or a TDI

My clutch spinner plate at 278,000 miles was still 0.6mm off the rivets (the new spinner plate only had 1.6mm) so it was certainly not a spinner plate wear issue, the failure was the release bearing, but that was caused my the wearing of the pivot bolt and subsequent failure of the release bearing carrier arm, this cause excessive side load on the bearing and ultimate failure
I estimate that wear wise the clutch would have cleared 400,000 miles

So 250K miles is very achievable

cheers

Thanks for this.

It's a 2002 1.4TDi, we've owned it from new, and it's 223k Miles, not Km. ;-)

It's a bit juddery on take-up and needs a little bit of revs to make it smooth.
Rest of the gear changes are smooth, and clutch shows no signs of slippage... he says... touching the proverbial!

just under 7,000 miles in the last 16 months

Now up to 206,880 as at yesterday

250 mile round trip at a steady 75mph on just over 1/2 tank of diesel, can't complain !!!

Cheers,IMG_0824a.jpg

I give up the picture keeps loading up side down the mileage is 282282

How timely that I should spot this thread. Took my Tdi for it's MOT this week, passed with no advisories :) and as I parked up at the house I noticed it had neatly turned over to 166,000 miles! I'm the second owner, bought it with 48,000 on the clock and I've dome the rest. Still on original clutch, exhaust and battery.

This is the highest mileage I have ever clocked on a car so I'm in new territory here and I was wondering what things I should look out for, so a few questions ...

It is on the original gearbox oil, should this be changed or do I leave it alone (Audi themselves seem unsure)
My MOT chap said he spotted an oil leak "near the turbo" but was not more specific, and I can't see anything (nor is it dropping oil) Any known weak spots that this might be?
