The S H E car

New wiper arms being mounted, the arms and the scuttle panel (?) had anyway to come off to give access to the two top screws for the air duct.

Good job on rear struts ..?..but those rear drums are probably due replacement ? some serious rust ! The studded tyres for winter ? brings back memories I took an old Saab 99 over to Sweden with my canoe on the roof ..I thought A great place to take as seeing it’s the home of them ? I loved the exploring “home of a thousand lakes “ ..

Yes agree the drums dont look nice. ?
They brake smooth and evenly so I leave them for later attention.

Nice!

Tip: it is not necessary to remove the wheelhouse inner plastic completely, the bottom strut bolt is for onetime use only, and remember to tigthen the strut bolt when car is on its wheel to avoid destroying the new struts bushing

Ah, to avoid torsional stress on the bushing?
Am planning to renew at least the nyloc nut for the lower bolt as it was very tired.

Yes exactly.

The factory nut is not round, but oval, so when the nut is fixed, the nut locks onto the bolt threads basically by destroying them.

We have been getting three strong BEEPs with ESP and ABS lights coming on lately at random occasions when driving. VCDS pointed out G200.
I spent time today to remove the sensor, mounted half a meter in front of the gear stick.
Old and new second hand sensor here :

At the same time as stripping away panels to access the G200 sensor I also removed panels to give me a clue of the position of the HVAC temperature sensor G263 which also had come up on the VCDS scan.
The G263 is not as nice a job as the G200 I can say.

Beware this is a LHD car and this is taken from the driver side.
G263 up here somewhere, very hard to see, but possible to touch with my finger tips.

The sensor connector body can be seen here, after I had managed to first disconnect it and then withdraw it a bit from the HVAC housing.

New and old sensor, the old one was open-circuited by the way. The sensors are just pushed into place by the way.

Say hello to Bella the ladybug, on the old pillow case now degraded to garage use.

No more error codes from HVAC after this :).
But still no signs of cooled air from the air vents, I guess I will have to think about gas levels in the system.

Today SHE got her driver door strap changed to a less worn one from the passenger side (from the breaker yard).
Sounds much more Audi quality car now when operating the door.

At the same time I found that one of leads to/at the high tone loudspeaker in the door card was broken. A quick start up of the solder iron and that was also fixed ?.

I also managed some investigations on my can bus errors; https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...n-bus-single-wire-operation.42792/post-391745.

I was a bit suprised to discover that while both SHE and my other A2 has the hole for the emergency triangle (what is the correct english word fot that, this sounds strange..) on the left side, just inside left rear light. But the donor car which was a 2000 A2 originaly sold in Switzerland didnt have that hole. Not on the left nor on right side.

Was this hole something that all 2000 A2 are missing?

Yesterday and today were rather warm days (20C) here in Mälardalen in Sweden, so I decided it was now time to check in on the AC system.
Up to now the cooling effect was close to none, just a liiittle cooler than outside but not all all enough.
The previous owner said it was working last summer, a good sign in itself.

I have my own manometer set and access to a bottle of R134.
So simply put I added 260 grams (half the nominal capacity), the pressures looked ok, and now the temperature from the air outlets was 4 C rather than 15-20C.
Feels nice .

Here is how it looked.

Total cost? Not too bad, approx 5GBP.
