thinking of a trade in, what's it worth...?

Hi All

It's been a while.

My A2, has now reached the time where I'm thinking of trading in for another.
Went to the dealer (curiousity) came back weeping. [29]

I was offered 7k for mine. on a brand new one.

A2, 1.4 TDi SE, June 02, reg with Climate, and single CD & Metallic Paint!
miles 43k and it's MINT.

Is this normal, what kinds of ££'s has anyone here sold/part ex theirs for (if you don't mind me asking?)

Think I might have to keep it...

Yep, I came away with dirty underwear (and it was clean when I went in).

A2 1.4SE, Silver, CC, CD player, registered Sept 2002, a handful of miles on the clock when it went part ex in January 2003 (so not even 6 months old) and I got about £9.5k on a car costing £14k+

I know it was young and you can expect heavy depreciation, but I do wonder what 3 year old cars are making now. I bet the hair on my right arm that it doesn't make the residuals Audi trumpeted when the A2 was launched.

Good luck Alfa, buy a lottery ticket, take your bank manager hostage, remortgage the house because you will have to when you trade in your A2!

What are you thinking of buying?

Steve - 2002 1.4SE petrol, Silver, black/black interior, Then an identical replacement 2003 A2. Now a Toyota Corolla 1.6 T-Spirit

I have to admit, I'm very intrigued by that as well...my A2 will be 3 in June and I will be looking to trade it in for something else towards the end of the year (not decided what yet...and don't ask about the club either!), but I am concerned as to what it will be worth. Anyone else got a 3 year old that's been valued recently?

So, bye bye alfa - will you be renaming yourself to: bye bye Audi, or are you planning on sticking with Audi, just getting another model?

To be fair i have got a good trade in for mine have done a deal on it having 30k on it early May got £10,750 for it which means it has cost me just over a few pennies to do 30,000 miles which works out at 7.5p of depriciation per mile. A figure i can live with bearing in mind the car won`t be ayear old until june

..ok

here's the gen from a friend who works at a motor auction...

quote:In the book it has £11000 miles retail for ave 24000 miles but you have to
adjust it by £150 per 1000 miles more so probably be worth £8500 in the
paper but if you were to trade it in you would probably get 9-9500 off a new
motor

yes it's only a guide, but I didn't expect 7!

I was thinking of a new A2, as I have thoroughly enjoyed the one I have now, but with the best part of 7K to shore up the difference, it's a not gonna happen.

I would of had a guess that even in a couple of years it will still be worth 4-5k? although maybe not?..

so I might as well keep it.

they've got me by the curlies, as there is no comparrative car to the A2, IMO.

jon.od, if I divide 30,000 miles into £4k I get .13p...? per mile, am I doing the maths wrong??

but my depreciation works out at .15p... how did you manage to get 7.5p?

May well be my laptop has been lying to me all day long!

Erm, instead of trading it in, why don't you sell it privately? Surely all the dealer would do is take yours off you for 7k, then slap sale sign for £9k and put it back in the forecourt?

Ebay it! It seems people there pay crazy prices for cars!

If you are looking to sell. I might be interested. Got a TDi wanted ad running at the moment. Drop me a line to [email protected]. Cheers.

Errmmmmm.
01 TDI with sports leather and CD player 10k againsta a new A3 TDI DSG.
Didn't think I was robbed.

And the dealer had it in stock for less than 12 hours!
I checked it in Friday at 6, they serviced and valeted it and it went out to a new owner on the Saturday morning!
Good or what?

Had a quote on my 01 Tdi SE last Sat - Black, Red Leather, Sky, 23k miles - £8500. That works out at almost 51% depreciation in 31 months - I was quitely happy with that.

Some S/H pricing history: I have just changed A2s: my first one (s/h) was a Fully loaded 1.4 SE in silver : its original OTR price had been over £23K in March 01 : with 44K on the clock I bought it in October 2002 for £12K : have just traded it in with 73K on clock for the balance of the finance (£7.5K) when buying its successor, a 1,6 FSI Sport in Crystal Blue, also fully loaded (OTR price £25K in Feb 03) with 30K miles on, for which I have paid £15K. Fully loaded includes SatNav,+, heated everything, electric windows all round, 6CD, glass roof, leather everything, headlamp washers, dipping mirror, etc, etc. Extras had added approx 75% on top of the new basic price each time. And after all that I cannot fault the dealers for after-sales service. (perhaps as I have also bought two TT coupes - a 225, then traded for a V6 3,2 DSG, - over the same period, the agent has been extra nice to me!!) Hope this is useful.
