This car is really coming up well with machine polishing. I think it may be staying with me for a while.

Haven’t really had chance to drive this FSI much, but had to go into the office today so took the opportunity. Found a couple of nice additions that I hadn’t noticed to date

A boot mounted 12v power supply

Need to do something with the front suspension at least because it’s showing it’s miles and is far too wallowing for my liking. The question is, do I go down with coilovers, up and do a dune or fit some replacement shocks and keep it factory, at the moment factory is winning (unheard of for me).

Quite impressed by the FSI’s acceleration in comparison to the 1.4 and a remapped TDI 75. I think the only area a remapped 75 is quicker is going uphill where the torque of the diesel takes the edge.

The FSI is a nice little combo, powerful enough, smooth and also quiet.

need some one who is good at photo shop to do all the above options so you can see what its like in every option, I almost brought some wheels years back because they looked good but had some to a photo shop for me and they didn't suite it at all

Luckily I've built enough of them over the years to be able to know how it will look either way, just need to decide.

I’d be inclined to agree now having seen the pictures. You’d think it’ll find a happy home in standard form pretty easily?

Yes you are probably right, and the rate at which I change my A2’s I should keep that in mind.

A boot mounted 12v power supply

Evening Steve.

Thinking of fitting one of these as have the hardware. I the same socket as you along with the A6 pop out version. I guess what you have fitted is the correct A2 option though. I would actually use it for the fridge and kids device charging whilst the wife uses the front socket for her phone. I charge my phone via the XCarLink.

So why am I here bothering you? If you find the time, could you please show a horizontal picture of the socket location along with somehow holding a tape measure along the length of the trim, to show where it should go without being instructed by the seatbelt guide.

I’m not far off removing the trim again to fit the PDC hardware ready for a visit from @timmus to wire it into the passenger footwell when the time is right. Perfect opportunity to get the boot socket fitted but don’t want to put the hole in the wrong place.

Kind regards,

Tom

Both were fitted to the A2. The early one I just broke had the A6 style one and I’ve seen this one on a couple of them too. Yes will try to take a photo next time I’m with the car:

I saw from young Louis' post on FB you've sold the grey low-mileage FSI back to him Steve? This one must really be growing on you if so. Good shout, I get the impression the grey one was going to be a pig to fix someone else's bodgery.

Yes ever enthusiastic as he is, he had messaged me to see if I would sell the car back to him. Seeing as my mechanic is likely to be out of action until the schools go back in Wales (likely to be September) the car was just sat on my drive doing nothing so I took up his offer.

It’s got the potential to be a very nice example but just wasn’t to be for me.

I do like this FSI, but as always I’m always on the lookout for another project.

I can save you the hassle??
