Timmus Down South: Any Requests?

I didn't take photos of every bit of work I did, but here are a few iPhone snaps from the work done on some of the many A2s of the Birchall household, as covered by Steve in this post... http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?28729-Today-I&p=245200#post245200
To Steve's wife's TDI90, I added DIS, cruise control and a 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel...

This photo shows the steering column after I've added the necessary wiring for all three optional extras on top of the standard wiring for the indicators, windscreen wiper controls, etc. If you're struggling to tell the difference between Audi's work and mine, that's what I want! :)

This photo shows everything being put back together again. The upgraded stalks with controls for cruise and DIS are in place and everything is neatly routed and connected. Wherever possible, I use wires of the same colours as used at factory.

Everything is now all back together. There are 12 new controls in total: 3 on the indicator stalk for cruise, 6 on the steering wheel and 3 on the wiper stalk for DIS. The larger DIS screen between the dials shows all manner of useful information.

As above, viewed from the side.

Heated seats were added to Steve's grandson's TDI. I make all my own wiring looms no matter which optional extras I'm adding. Ready-made aftermarket looms don't exist for a majority of A2 optional extras and so have to be custom made, but the looms that are available are often too vague and tatty for my liking. This applies to heated seat looms in particular.

I find doing this sort of transformative work incredibly satisfying. I hope this post has proved interesting.

Cheers,

Tom

Hope you enjoyed Farncombe Tom
All Nichola's family from there

I very much enjoyed Francombe, Terry. Many thanks to the lovely people who hosted me for the evening.
One of my major disappointments of the entire trip was not getting to call at yours, though. I just couldn't make the timings work, unfortunately :(

Next time. I must see that purple A2! :)

Top craftsmanship Tom; very informative and a professional looking job there. Aside of the pictures, the warmth emitted from the heated seats in my A2, courtesy of your wiring skills, acts a daily reminder... ;)

Heated seats always remind me of my favourite tipple. "Southern Comfort"

Hi Tom, I am in Croydon with an A2 with air not blowing through middle vents. My mechanic thinks it is the air con control unit, but I am not sure that we can be absolutely certain that it isn't one of the motors on the flaps. I hear that the dashboard has to come off and this may be much more than is practicable on a flying visit, but I thought that I would log it with you, in case you are ever tempted by another trip (assume that I have missed this one) and in case it would be of interest. Many thanks, John

Hello Tom, Can you fit a double dim and audi head unit on one of your south days please ? I've looked at the list and i think you still have Wednesday available.
