Timmus in the South East - June 2022

@AntB, this sounds very like a failing microswitch in the driver's door lock, that stops the car from recognising that the door is open and activating the B-pillar switches. Tom's fixed more of these than I've had hot dinners. Meanwhile, don't shut the door with the key inside or it may auto-relock itself, leaving you stranded outside unless you have a spare key with you.

@ProjectGT indeed that's not very far away. I know the various routes in that direction well, as my son used to live near Thame.

In order for Tom to help as many customers as possible in the limited time available, all the appointments are here in Leighton Buzzard. At the time of posting this, there is one last available slot left on the morning of Monday 20th, and one as yet unconfirmed slot in the afternoon of Saturday 11th, which may become available. It may also be possible to squeeze in some smaller jobs around other confirmed customers.

I know Tom will be very busy with prep for this upcoming residency so I wouldn't expect any reply/conversation on this thread, but he will be responding to PM's from confirmed and potential customers - please allow for some delay though.

Do you have any availability on the morning of the 20th Tom for a 2nd visit?
Need an aftermarket radio wired in properly

Silly question but I have a morning slot and was wondering what time I need to be there :)
Not silly at all. I'm wondering the same.
You both have PMs on this matter.

I shall hope to find time over the next day or two to finalise times with everybody who's visiting Leighton Buzzard, as well as those who have messaged about free slots in Leighton Buzzard or about my time in Aberdeenshire.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Hope all is going well down south. Really sorry to bother you with this, as I know you will be extremely busy at the moment. I've just had someone wreck my rear bumper and looks like I'm probably going to need it replace it. Just wondered if you have one back up in Lancs, or if you know anyone who might have one. if I could get a good one in the right silver colour it would make things a lot simpler. There seem to be lots on ebay, but all uniformly trashed and needing too much work. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks.

Best wishes,
Steve

Little Annie got her new MFSW installed on Friday, along with a new handbrake switch and working side mirrors again. @timmus also confirmed that I have a non-working lumbar motor, as all the connections are doing what they are supposed to do. Thanks to Tom and @Proghound I luckily found out that I had unsafe rear seats as neither would click into the car properly. One seat was fixed, the other... well, that was quite a story :) I didn't see three grown men come so close to crying as on Friday. The seat would just not come out of the car... The only solution was to give up the seat to get it out. Turns out a gorilla has mishandled the seat prior to my ownership, the internal mechanism was just so bent that it could not be fixed or even released without dismantling the seat.

As I spent a bit longer than expected, I had the car remapped as well in order to release those extra ponies :) Really feels like another car now.

Photos will follow on the Project Sicily thread

P.S.: It was also nice to get to meet @Lymus and another A2OC member whose name I unfortunately forgot. It was almost like a very intimate social with 6 A2 being there in the afternoon.

Thanks again to @Proghound for the hospitality and @timmus for offering his services.

Just like to add my thanks to Tom for his troubleshooting of my battery drain issue and identifying where the fault lies, took a while but got there in the end and Ian for being a super host, he even offered to make me some sarnies for lunch, I think he thought I needed them

Wonderful hospitality

Thanks
Steve

Sounds like a great deal of fixing and happy owners. What a brilliant club 👏 generous people sacrificing their time

Where was the drain!?!?

Where was the drain!?!?

The RNSE was drawing power when off, not steadily but fluctuating. Tom initially thought may-have been the firmware so this was updated, thinking it had been resolved with the updates firmware we were happy, not for long though!

Fluctuations started once again and we tried without SD cards too, but after swapping with Ian’s head unit and different SD options, it was determined that the head unit was at fault.

It’s possible the fault from existed before my purchase that’d never shown up until my ownership!
It now has a separate fused switch to allow the RNSE to be fully powered down until I find a decent replacement 193 unit, tbh if it resolves the problem oI may leave as is!

If the car was driven every day, then i don’t believe it would present a problem.

Thanks to Ian for hospitality and labour and Tom for his usual high standard of workmanship and the company of both.
