Timmus in the South East - June 2022

AM on the 12th is fine for me Tom
Fabulous, Steve.

I appreciate that your list of jobs currently remains uncertain. The jobs for Audi2012 (Mo), who has booked the afternoon slot on Saturday 12th, aren't likely to take me long, so if your list of jobs requires more than just a morning slot, then there's no issue if it spills into the afternoon and early evening. You're welcome to stay for the whole day, should you wish; both Ian and Mo will no doubt gladly keep the conversation flowing whilst I'm buried under tools.

Your name on the schedule is no longer in italics. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom - At the moment its looking like the battery drain is the top of the list prior to potential sale 😯 - I know that not going to be an easy one to fathom.

That's perfectly fine with me, I will PM you with the details (it's not as much work as last time :) )

Best wishes

Thomas
Hello folks,

@adrenalin222 , @Techno , @ashley7715 , @gangitano85 , @Lymus , @Cenick , @x3awm , @Andrew , @dandare131

Many thanks for getting in touch and for listing the times that you're available. Knowing your preferences and alternatives is really helpful to me when arranging the schedule, so thank you all.

Please see the schedule towards the bottom of Post 1. I have added your names to the schedule based on your availability and how long I perceive the job is likely to take. At present, your names are all in italics to indicate that this booking has not yet been set in stone. Names in normal upright letters are confirmed.

Could you please take a look and confirm that you're happy with your allocated slot?

I appreciate that some enquiries were, at this stage, only provisional. However, I've assigned you a slot to ensure that your preferred day/time is not otherwise allocated whilst we discuss the specifics. At this stage, whilst your name remains in italics, I don't consider you to have made a firm commitment.

I shall continue to discuss details with you all individually, via private message.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Please can you book the 14 th for auto rear view mirror installation ( I have the mirror) and fitment of rear speakers ( do not have them)

@timmus, no need to waste car space bringing any speakers down with you. I have loads of the woofers and tweeters going spare (and a rear amp which as far as I know is working, but maybe bring one of those just in case).

Rear bumper with parking sensors install please on the FSI. I have all the parts needed just not the loom and expertise. Squeeze me in to any time slot anywhere you can and I will be there. I might even be able to help you remove and refit the bumper to save some time.
Thanks
Drew.

due to being neck-deep in major house renovations.
Hi folks,

The house work is swallowing all of my time today, but I'll be back at my desk tomorrow morning to answer messages and continue with the organisation of the upcoming Leighton Buzzard residency.

Thanks for your patience.

Cheers,

Tom

I have a trolley jack and axle stands here so no need to worry about bringing those either.

Hello good people of A2OC,

First of all, my apologies for being very silent on the forum in recent times. This is, in part, due to being neck-deep in major house renovations. I appreciate that this has resulted in many club members waiting a long time for responses to private messages. Rest assured, no message goes unanswered and I will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

The purpose of this thread is to announce that I'll once again be based in Leighton Buzzard soon. At the beginning of the year, it was my intention to do a 'South East Residency' in the springtime, but the ongoing work on my house has delayed this into the early summer.

From Monday 6th June, I intend to base myself in Leighton Buzzard, just to the north of London. Massive thanks are owed to @Proghound for allowing me to work and live at his house. Compared to previous visits, the length of my upcoming stay in Leighton Buzzard is relatively short. Other commitments means that I can only be away from home for two weeks.
Of course, I shall do my utmost to fulfil as many requests as possible. Should the demand for my time exceed the number of booking slots, I will try to prioritise seeing as many club members as possible. As such, if your desires are likely to use more than a full day of my time, I may request that the job is either trimmed or delayed until a later opportunity.

Please be aware that there are some limitations to the range of services that I can provide when away from home. For example, some upgrades require parts that I won't have the space to transport. Some parts may be out of stock or unavailable due to Brexit or the continued impact of the pandemic. I also cannot complete all upgrades at weekends, so I'd be grateful if Saturdays and Sundays were left available to those with no alternative. The final limitation is that there's only one of me, for which some may be much relieved!

At the bottom of this message, I have tagged many club members who have made contact with me in recent months who may appreciate my greater proximity. However, this is not an exhaustive or exclusive list; my services are open to all who are able to meet me.

For those who are unfamiliar with my services, an overview can be seen here:

The provisional schedule is shown below, hopefully to be cast in stone as soon as possible. I appreciate that 'AM' and 'PM' are a little vague, but I'll arrange precise times with you all once things start falling into place.

Kind regards,

Tom

A quick note from @Proghound:

Once the bookings are finalised I will PM everyone who's coming with the location postcode, 'last 50 yards' directions and, for those of you who don't have satnavs, route suggestions from the motorways. I look forward to welcoming you all, friends old and new :)

Good Morning Tom
I have acquired my 2nd 1.6 FSI recently. When I turn the ignition on the central locking engages(unlocks again). I know the micro switch /sensor on the tail gate was disconnected/disengaged and I wander if that's what's causing it. Can I book a slot when you are in the south east and can you please let me know the likely cost.
Also I might be interested in installing a trip display showing fuel consumption etc
Thanks and Regards
Hitesh

Hiya Baz,

It has indeed been a long time since we've seen each other.

Be aware that this isn't a 'tour' but a Leighton Buzzard residency. If you're able to meet me in Leighton Buzzard, then I shall gladly update your Colour DIS software (there have been a few releases since I did the installation in your A2). This would also provide opportunity for a catch-up, of course. Colour DIS software updates are free!

Let me know your thoughts.

All the best,

Tom

PS: Hope all goes well with the new music release. One of the albums shortlisted for this year's Mercury Prize was recorded and mixed in a studio that I designed and built in 2016. Of course, I had nothing to do with the album itself, but it's nice to think of all those sweet sounds travelling through my solder joints. :D

Hi Hitesh,

I'll send you a private message to get discussions underway. :)

Hi Tom

You may possibly remember last year in Leighton Buzzard you fitted a front/rear dashcam and replaced the CCU. You mentioned that the door microswitches were cycling too, but that it was a fairly lengthy job to get at them to repair. It's not urgent, I've done another 100 miles only in the past year, but wouldn't mind having them sorted out if time is available. I'm still free on Thursdays and Fridays, if there's a gap in your schedule that would be sufficient to get the switches seen to. Nothing else wrong with the car, other than the very irritating starter motor whine when I key the ignition !

Best wishes

Tom S

Hi Tom, I've also sent you a PM so just signposting that in case you've missed it... (it's actually a response to a converstion we had going anyway so that might be why)...

It is something other than me getting both my cars to Leighton Buzzard but it does relate to the trip. Thanks.

Kennedy.

If you have any time in your schedule for a visit to Thame, Oxfordshire (20 miles from Leighton Buzzard) please let me know - can accommodate your schedule.
