To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

Right, after about £850 worth of parts from the excellent DeutscheParts (I'm not connected, just like dealing with them) £120 worth of vapour blasting from https://www.fwdvapourblasting.co.uk/ in Colchester, and nearly three weekends of spannering (it wasn't just the manifolds) we're back on the road. I can recommend FWD Vapour Blasting - really nice guy who cares about what he does. The £120 was for lower manifold, upper manifold, pipe between EGR and Throttle Body and the Throttle body. The flaps in the lower manifold were hardly flapping around when I got it back as some of the blast media got lodged between the plastic spindle and the manifold but it's predicted to ease up in operation.

As much as it's a shame to disable the flaps after all that, I have had enough pain (including death pipe which is why the car came home on a transporter). Steve, I have an MOT on 2 December but would like a proboost! I'll PM you.

By the way, I''m now not scared of FSI cambelts - with the locking set and genuine VW cambelt change kit (which includes a lot of the pulleys) it's easy enough.

Did you run the a vcds adaptation after reassembling? If not, I think you should.
After all that work, the alignment of spindle, potentiometer etc will, most likely, have changed.
Mac.
