iv just fitted a new head unit with tv and satnav, they are seperat boxes, wen i turn the head unit off the lights on the digital tv and satnav box stay on, does any one no how to sort this? it doesnt turn off wen removing the key either?????
also i went to audi to buy some bits for my car, since iv had it i thought its windscreen washer fluid cap was missing i finaly got roud to buying it and they said it dosnt have one is this true???????

You have probably connected the 'Illumination' wire connection of the new stereo, to the permanent 12v supply pin, this is usually used for the radio station and security code memory of the stereo.

You will probably find that as you wrongly wired it, that the tv stations and the radio stations will not hold memory after tuning and storing them.
Use a tester and find the correct wire that needs to be connected to the dash illumination wire, which, is obviously only supplied power when the lights are on.

as sarge pointed out, you've probably got the permanent power pin. If your unit support switched power, you may want to wire to the 8-pin black connector III, pin 4. I think that's for ignition switching, pin5 is switch for powered antenna. Switch illumination (where you want lights on button when you turn your DRLs/dip beam on) is pin-6.
