Today I.....

I repaired the HID set using one of the kits and a drill, hence having solution available. I improved them significantly, but the sand blasted effect, which was dreadful, I could only reduce/improve slightly. I think if the lenses are dull and have minor blemishes the kits work well, sandblasted as my HID set are, no chance. It is a skill and patience is needed mind.

Today, my A2 passed its MOT retest - 5 minutes in and out. Phew!

Talking with the MOT testers and they don't appear to be fans of the new changes being proposed/about to become law. Lots of subjectivity and the pass or fail is replaced with Major, Urgent and Minor (from recollection) - the latter two being advisories. If you add the word 'issue' after the above, there is a logic there somewhere...

Got an absolute bargain.. tested and working great removed it myself whilst it was getting dark ridiculously cheap for getting it out myself..

Fantastic, you could REALLY make a few people on here green with envy if you told them how much you paid for it, but I would understand if you don't want to say !!! :)

Super thin profile rims/tyres on that red Porsche 911 (next to last photo)

We don’t have snow/ice here, but my son and I are off for a skidpan session at the weekend: oil and water I think, don’t wear best clothes :)

The A2s were pretty quick around the course, the red car was stupidly quick on real spikes.
Octavia was interesting - way more slip allowed than I expected and ESP was quite late to kick in. Better with ASR off as then you could at least try to power out of the corners. Way too slippery for much, though.

If you want the real deal, come on up next time... even the 11 year-olds were doing powerslides :D

... posted the photo of my recently fitted auto light switch, quite pleased with the functionality though less pleased that the car alerts me that I have left the lights on when exiting. Now to find out if it will play with my soon to be fitted drls.

Looking great. Very tidy.
Mine doesn't alert me about the lights being on when in Auto mode - only if I manually change it because I'm so used to Auto now that I forget to put it off!

Only when it is doing the 'light my way home' thing. Time to locate the 'instructions'. :)

The ones I sourced from China do not have a separate control box (the electronics are just in the light switch no separate box to be installed) and they don’t beep when you exit. They are still available I believe and since you have done the hard bit (sorting out the fascia) it might be worth the £20 or so to replace yours with the new style one.

The link should be on here still if you search for “coming home” or similar.

Thanks Steve, it is the new version I have. To clarify, the noise I get is the cars own buzzer telling me I have left the lights on when I have the door open without the ignition on while in auto mode. Does this not occur with others?

It doesn’t sound the “lights on” warning on the version I obtained (mentioned in that link).

It is a small annoyance to have that buzzer going off. But it dies get to you after a while. So I managed to track down this version and it doesn’t do it.
